I have had my PAL for years and decided to get my RPAL after seeing a ISPC shoot. Being new to pistols I have narrowed my list to 4 the S&W M&P9, Clock 17, CZ Shadow 75 sp01 and the Beretta 92FS and in 9mm. They are all nice and all have god reviews, I would like some personal experience from any one who may have owned any of them.
Thanks

I think this thread has been done already. Do yourself a favor and look at the Ruger SR9 also. I have always liked Glocks and was going to get one, but ended up with the SR9 instead .

check youtube for a comparison between the ruger and glock (some guy called nutnfancy on there).

shoot or handle a few if you can. i love the glock from a design point, but it feels rather weird right when i pull the trigger. and the long-barrel versions (34) feel quite a bit nicer than the normal versions (17)

m&p or cz shadow. your pay more for the shadow vs lighter gun with m&p. both are great shooters. all about what feels right in your paw. DO NOT buy into this is better than that; need to handle and shoot. good luck.

Exactly. There are quite a number of excellent choices. Make the effort to try the ones you are serious about.
For some, the Beretta may be best; for me, it is unacceptable, because of the size of my hand and the grip.

i was shooting the Beretta a few days ago at the range (well, Taurus, but whatever) and one of the other guys there who is MUCH more skilled commented that they are actually hard to shoot well because the trigger sucks.

thoughts? i didn't notice it being BAD, but maybe i don't know what a great trigger SHOULD feel like...

A great trigger should have no free play, no creep, break like the proverbial glass rod meaning as crisp as possible, with an 8 oz pull, and with no trigger overtravel at all.

Useful at the range, and nowhere else, IMO.

i went to the local gun range and tried them all. i particularly liked the S&W and the Sig 226. if you live in the vancouver area, you can try out all the guns at dvc ventures.
