Try before you buy.

Consider also an STI GP6.

Springfield armory XDM........... NRA 09 handgun of the year award, for a reason!

reason being copious amonts of advertising? and '09 is SO last year... :nest:

this is so much like the Motor Trend Truck / Car Of The Year - it changes year to year due to minute differences. the model from the year before isn't a POS by now, and today's model isn't a revelation over last year's model either.

but it sure sells mags!!!

From my experience as a newb paper shooter, Sig P226 had by far the least noticeable amount of recoil and I was able to shoot rapidly and not fatigue, that could be a very good trait in competition. For me, out of all the guns I have tried so far, the P226 was the most enjoyable so I would suggest including it in your short list

I own the Shadow and the S&W and have friends you have the other two and they let me use them. As far as I am concerned the shadow is by far the best one to shoot. But that is just my two bits worth.

BHP is a very nice gun to have and it shoots very well!!
XDm is a very nice gun in all respects too.
If looking for SA 9mm - CZ75B SA is an exellent gun and Wolverine sells those for $655.

You buy the one that fits your hand the best and shoots the most accurately.

Don't worry about brand etc. Just try as many as you can and use your personal judgement. Your needs can only be understood by you and if the tool fits your hand.
