Which accurate .22?

I love my CZ's ! Aside from being accurate they are very well built and have some beautiful stocks, however they can be a bit pricey for some. On that note, I've heard some really good reports from my buddies with Savage rifles also, I've never tried on myself but hope to soon.

Another vote for an older BRNO- the heavy barrel models are exceptional although not the cheapest to scope. Finally if you have the patience continue to look for a used truly high end target rifle. A few years back, I picked up two Valmet Finnish Lion 22 heavy barrel single shot target rifles from an estate sale for $600 each. I was told one was used in the Olympics in the 1950's but this may be only a rumour. I had MR CLARK on this site refinish the wood on both rifles and on one custom mounted a vintage Balvar 24 "stovepipe". On infrequent trips to the range, small crowds gather around the rifle. It probably weighs 12-15 pounds and shoots WAY better than I can.

Not true, my other favorite is my old cooey 60. It's an old tack driver. Good luck getting someone to part with one in good shape, though. I'm guessing the OP wants to go buy a gun and not wait for someone to part with their baby.

There many fine .22's out there, but for a 'go buy an accurate rifle today' kinda gun the savages can't be beat is all I was saying.

my $.02

Blackwater,

I have a few old Cooeys too and they are very accurate. Love how simple they are and they make a great project gun.

The Savages are good no doubt and it is nice because a lot of retailers carry them and you can often pick one up, but a quick search of the net provided me with this list for sale from vendors, some sponsors, for some old stuff.

2 Win Model 67s $125 and $139
2 Annie 125s $179 and $399
1 Rem 514 $139
1 Marlin Mod 80 $165
1 CIL 190 $499
Brno Model 1 $499

Lots of stuff to buy you just have to look.

i like mine, its a varmint and sweet

good wood, nice action, i have nothing at all to complain about.. put some high talley rings on it and you have a good gun for life

man... if i was to get another... i'd get the cz with the full length wood.. really nice ...actually too nice ! can't say i'd drag that one out in the woods..

i just found this vid... seems like the 455 can change barrels ... i wonder if you can do it with the 452, aswell?

I can't argue with any of the choices already listed.

If I am going out plinking for a day ... I always grab my trusty old Cooey Ranger (bolt action repeater). I haven't shot any paper within it years, but I know it's still sub 2 MOA, probably a sub 1.5 MOA shooter still, and it's almost older than the hills.

The biggest thing with any .22 is Ammo ... try every style of every brand you can afford until you find the one your gun loves.

for a semi you can find a thompson center r-55 all weather with a shillen match barrel for $500 new, with the right ammo it will shoot 1/4 groups at 50 yards. Not sure if that's good enough for everyone, its good enough for me. In my opinion its the best bargain accurate 22 on the market right now, unless you can find a 16 inch CZ 452
