It's been on my bucket list since the day I saw my first bucket. ALWAYS wanted a .300 win mag.
I'm getting one. Finally.
I'm have some available credit to buy a NEW rifle (has to be new and please, no lectures about credit and affording stuff...it's zero interest. I'd be STUPID to use my own $. I'll leave it where it is now...earning me money) so it's TIME.

I'm looking at a few options.
I can get a Mossberg Patriot. Apparently they're a bit sloppy when the bolt is open but... I don't shoot with the bolt open. It has semi-fluted barrel (not real long flutes) and a spiral fluted bolt.
Before you judge, these NEW Mossbergs are different than their OLD ones. And they have a version of an accutrigger called lightning trigger. 2-7lbs
For about the same price... Savage has the 11/111 Trophy Hunter...or maybe I should look at the 16/116 which is the Stainless Savage.

Other good options worth telling me about for under $600 (with or without scope...I have one here I can use) in a .300WinMag?
I shoot left handed. The Mossbergs aren't available in Left.
I don't really care cause in reality, a right handed bolt gun IS already FOR a left handed shooter except for how the brass ejects and ...If there is a cheek riser on the left side of the stock...that doesn't help a lefty but yeah...Left handed works. Right handed is fine too.

Thanks in advance for your help.

Here you go...for $60 more. Weatherby Vanguard S 2. Guaranteed sub MOA with decent ammo.

Cabela's: $659

Listen to the Rabbit...I don't think there's anything new that can touch the value of a Vanguard S2. Sorry, Mossberg isn't even in the same ballpark. Maybe they're diferent, maybe they're even better...but the Vanguard/Howa has always been very good, and the new trigger on the S2 makes it great.

I had a Weatherby Vanguard Series 2 in .300 Winchester Magnum. Fantastic rifle. I only sold it as I no longer needed a rifle chambered in .300 Win Mag.

guess if I was looking at getting a heavy recoilling rifle, I'd be looking past price point. ;) Got a .338 M 70, never regretted it.

Personally, I'd go Savage over the Mossberg but I haven't seen one of the new Mossbergs you mentioned.

The Vangard is another good choice within budget. I just picked up a used on in .243 Win but haven't shot it yet.

My first rifle in .300 Win Mag was a tang safety Ruger M77 with 24" brl. It shot great but reloading I wanted something with a 26" barrel.

My second [and I still have it] rifle in .300 Win Mag is a Browning Abolt composite stalker with 26" barrel. It will do 3 shot clover leafs at 100 yds if I do my part. Both .300's were bought used [pre CGN EE days] and I upgraded the optics on them over time, too.

Agree with most so far. If you can save the extra couple bucks go with the vanguard 2. If not go with the savage 111. Nothing fancy but they seem to work.
