I need feed back on what you guys use or recommend for a synthetic replacement stock for a Ruger M77 338 Win. Mag.

This gun is being rejuvenated and the stock needs to go also.

Thanks, Ghunter

I have a 77 (in .338) with a Hogue overmoulded stock on it, and if you can get past the looks of it (ugly!) it's great. Very comfortable, slight handswell on the grip, nice on the cheek. Mine has a full length aluminum bedding block which makes it quite heavy, and if I were to do it again I would buy the version that just uses pillars for bedding. Everyone who picks it up comments on how comfortable it is to hold. Good recoil pad. The barrel didn't float until I removed a small amount of rubber material at the end of the channel, otherwise the fit was good.

I also have another 77 with a Boyd's JRS laminate stock. Much nicer looking than the rubber, almost too slender for my hands. Recoil pad is not so great. Mine needed to have the barrel channel reamed out a little, and it was then glass-bedded as well. Much more work than the Hogue to get it to fit properly, but it was sold as a Virtual Inlet Part so that was expected.

What I really want is one that looks like the JRS, handles and feels like the Hogue, and weighs less than either.:)

I would go with a Bell and Carlson myself I have on of there stocks on a Model 70 I one and am in the process of getting one for my Browning A-Bolt I find them to be a good value and great stocks.
