Which AR do swat teams use

pretty much C8s with 12.5" or 14.5" barrels... there are a smattering of HK g36s and other brands, but it's mostly Colts in Canada. Armalites are not in vogue anymore as they had poor QC. i know that Edmonton PS has gone away from Armalites for patrol rifles and their TAC team. Calgary PS has also relegated their Armalites to Simunition guns due to reliability issues.

The EPS (Edmonton Police Service) purchased about a hundred Armalites for patrol carbines from me about 6-8 years ago. We never had one complaint from them about quality control other than normal wear and tear. They were even offered replacement/loaner guns if one of theirs went down for any period of time and they never took me up on it. I know the people in Officer Safety Section (firearms training) and got a little more insight into the last purchasing decisions. Most of the original Armalite guns are still in service but newer guns have been supplied by Diemaco (now Colt Canada). I was not even offered a chance to bid on these guns and as far as I know Diemaco offered several extra mags with each gun to sweeten the deal. There was lots of issues with the original supply (on time) of some of the Diemaco guns and getting parts have been a problem (they often come to me to get parts). I have had little experience with Stag Arms so I cannot comment as to reliability but with respect the Armalite (supplied and serviced by John Hipwell at Wolverine Supplies) we have had very few warranty/reliability issues. This is from the hundreds of Armalites that we have purchased over the last 10 years or so...service has been outstanding. Phil.
