which ar do the us military use

What brand of ar do they use and can we in canada buy the same one they use but I know it will not have auto.

There have been several contractors for the various AR-15s used by the US military, the only one you have a chance of buying is Colt. This is because the U.S. government signed, way back in 1968, an agreement with Colt that said the government could set up factories to make AR-15s for their own use, but one of the limitations was that those factories could not compete with Colt in any other market. So H&R, GM, Balimoy, FNMI and Sabre Arms have, had or will have made rifles under the government's production license, but they can only be made for and purchased by the U.S. DoD for official use.

Colt-made guns are available, but the vast majority of their production goes to military orders so there are not many in circulation, and the price is very, very high.

Sabre doesnt' make M16 for the government - They make parts for M2 HMG.

Sabre Defense falls into the "will have produced" column, because at this point their M16 production is still properly spoken of in the future tense. They got the small-business set aside contract that originally went to Bushmaster, then was revoked.
