Which AR parts?

As far as I know the fee was charged for receivers, barrels and compensators

Well, I can see you are intent on proving me wrong. As I said, there is a whole tutorial on it (I even provided the link). If I made a mistake including BCGs, I apologize. I would have suggested that if the OP is interested in a BCG it would probably be best to send an email to Brownell's and ask the question, however you seem to know for sure.

Well, I spoke with Saskatoon Gunworks, and they're getting new Aero Precision uppers/lowers in first week of December. Looking like the wife is gonna get me an upper for Christmas, then a lower (sort of, she doesn't have her RPAL) for my birthday 2 days later. The adventure begins, and I look forward to drawing from the wealth of knowledge here. Any "unreal deals" going on right now that I may have missed? Anything I should avoid as far as LPKs and such?

For lower parts kits I've used Daniel Defense and DPMS. No problems with either company although I did change the trigger on both. Brownells has the DPMS lower parts kit on sale right now for $45

Alrighty, so I've been obsessively researching the AR platform (as one does), and looking to put together some tools for my build. Looks like I'm going to need some roll pin holders, roll pin punches, and a barrel wrench and vice blocks. I'm looking at the Magpul BEV block, and can't find much in the way of reviews. Everything I've read about the Magpul Armorer's Wrench makes it sound like the be all end all of Armorer's wrenches. Is it worth the cost? I mean, you could almost buy 3 cheapies for the price of one Magpul...

just assembeled my first upper, used the wheeler "a2/a4 upper" vice blocks for 90% of the build, the magpul bev block which worked awesome i only used to install the flash hider because i didnt want any torque on the barrel extension, in hindsight i wish i had some proper barrel vice blocks..... but the bev block worked fine and your only torquing it 40-50 ft/lbs anyway.

the magpul wrench is awesome.... but again the only thing i used it for is the flash hider, and i will use it again building my lower to tighten the castle nut, i used a bcm kmr freefloat rail and it came with its own wrench, which i attached to my 1/2" drive.....

roll pin punch set, yes... buy a good set like proto....well worth the money, thats about all you need besides some electrical tape, i put tape anywhere i might make an idiot scratch while installing pins..... be generous with it and it makes your life easier.

my project was made with all new parts, stripped upper etc..... so your mileage will vary if you have to tear a gun down before building it, then tat magpull wrench will be worth its weight in gold
