The Kodiak I looked at was one sale for $7999. Grizzly was $8999.

Regarding the front locker, could you give examples where you would really need one? I haven't owned a 4x4 quad so I am curious how much real life benefit it provides. I'm not the kind of fellow that goes out of my way to find an inpassable route. If I see a mud pit, I'd just as soon go around it.
 
they are invaluable for: climbing hills, pulling heavy loads (MOOSE's), pushing snow with the blade, driving in deep snow when hunting, getting yourself unstuck(this is when i use it the most:) ), Can anybody else think of what they are good for????

They are a tool worth having. Most of the time you wont need one but when you do, you will be glad you have it.:D
 
Biggest place I like it other than obvious low-traction or heavy pulling places is getting through the stinking dead-falls and beaver-blasted coulees you often come across. When you get the front end over a log and it is off-camber, locking the front end will get the front tire that is touching ground to pull and help you over without a big fuss.

First trip out with my new Kodiak. I was with Honda 500 and a Honda 450. Going up a steep seismic cutline with some serious bumps/ruts halfway up. Both Hondas had to winch themselves up the rough spot, where I just put the locker on and made it through no problem. Thats the only time where I think I've ever truely needed it.

PS. I paid around $9000 for it after tax and a few goodies.
