Which BIG bore revolver to get??

Big Bore

Heaven forbid, but if I had to pick only one, it would be the 4" model 29 S&W I have , with factory ivory magna grips.:)
The 460 S&W looks interesting and hopefully, one day I'll get one. Just over a year ago, a friend asked me to try out his new cannon, the 500 S&W. When he asked what I thought of it, I told him the last time I saw a 'piece' of stainless steel that big, I was working in a pulp mill. He then let me try some moderate loads, 440gr @ 1000 f/sec, off of a rest @ 25 M. I, carefully as possible, squeezed of 5 and when he brought my target back, there was one big 1.5 inch hole. I had to have one!!!:D
I've loaded & shot a lot of different bullet weights, cast & jacketed, from 350gr's - 440gr's and they all seem to be accurate. Just picked up some 500gr Hornady JFP's but I haven't tried them, yet. The Sierra 400gr is something I have to get as well.:)
The 500 S&W is a 'handful' and has the ability to inflict pain, at both ends.;) Very noticeable using say, 440gr cast, full house loads. Even with the Hogue grips, I found the hump area of the grip a major cause of 'pain'. I modified a set of Herrett' Jordon Trooper grips I had for the N-frame S&W, and that seems to have tamed the discomfort somewhat. At least made it bareable. By spreading the 'pain' over a bigger area?
Presently I am in the initial planning stages of arranging a Moose hunt in Alaska, hopefully about 2007 or 8. The 500 is what I plan to use. :)

I own a Ruger Super Redhawk in 454 and a Freedom Arms in 454 and I dont think I will ever part with either! The 500 does look like a possible purchase in the near future though. I carry the SRH (yes, I have ATC) and I feel that it is adequate enough to stop anything.:D
