I am wondering if anyone can tell me which Browning BLR has the best accuracy or if there is any difference in accuracy between the pistol grip model and the model 81.
I have the pistol grip model in 358win, (bought second hand), and with 200gr Hornady SP and IMR 3031 it is very accurate. Problem is I kinda like the straight grip model 81 better and I know where there is a new 81 in 358win for a good price,....so my dalema is,..do I trade my accurate pistol grip for a model 81 that might not be as accurate. The reason I am thinking the 81 might not be as accurate as the PG is the 81 has a barrel band and the PG barrel is pretty much free floating,...maybe it makes no difference.
If anyone has any experience with the 2 models or some good insight on this,.....I'm all ears.

Thanks.

If the one you have is accurate, stick with it. Both have same barrel and action, if you can get to try out the other one - go for it and compare. Otherwise it is not worth the risk. I have read in countless threads here about people kicking themselves for getting rid of an accurate hunting rifle and buying one not so much so. I love my BLR, trigger not so much. Quality built.

FWIW ... If I were looking to buy a BLR ...it would be the pistol grip model ... I really like the look better ,,, I liked the B78 over the 1885 and the Model 71 .. all had pistol grips and to me .. just looked right. But just a personal opinion

You are probly 100% right NL-Hunter. I guess I could scratch the money together and buy the model 81 and keep the PG. The wife is soon gonna kill me if I don't stop buying guns, lol.

I had my heart set on a BLR with the pistol grip stock and fell over backward with the Engrish straight shank.
My right hand likes the ability to slide up and down the wood a wee bit.
So much sew, there is the littler bruther just showed up with the same stock profile.
May git to shoot it tamarrah.
Gonna bring both hunting......in the a.m.....na nana nanahh..... :)

That would be a great idea, Hoytcanon agrees too :)

About the wife part, she'll get over it - eventually. Hint: Christmas is coming up soon, buy her some bling - get her some flowers in the meantime.

Happy wife = Happy Life

I had the pistol grip in .308. I found the first two shots were always bang on and the third started to drift. Still...I miss that gun, every time someone mentions BLR I kick myself in the ass for getting rid of it
