Which boresighter is the better one to use to set a new scope
and to recheck the setting on a gun after a period of time
Leupold magnetic sighter or Bushnell Pro. with expandable arbors?
Thanks for your info.

I normally just sight threw the barrel at a target , and adjust the scope to match. You come reasonably close, and its free.

This method is for bolt action guns with the bolt removed. what gun are you trying to get on paper?

I use a bushnell unit with expandable arbors that I have had for well over 20 years. It has more than paid for itself in saved ammo over the years,as I have used it well over 100 times, between my own scopes, those of friends, and those belonging to people that I met at the range that were having problems getting on the paper.

If its a bolt, I look through the barrel. Someone on here once mentioned looking through the bolt, but first taking a shell casing and drilling out the primer, load it in the chamber, which makes lining up a target even more accurate.

It would be good to have a bore sighter for the initial sight in , most times I just sight in
looking through the barrel, on a lever gun a bore sighter works better . Once a gun is sighted in the bore sighter could be used as a referance point to make sure it is still
sighted in when it is to be used. I will be buying the Bushnel pro. boersighter ,comes with
3 expandable arbours, one solid 17 cal. arbour.

Thanks for the advice ,Best in 2010 to all.
