Hmm airplanes, maybe i should do a poll on that also?

Spitfire as if, it was the huracane that was the work horse of the battle of britian, and if it was gernam that the fw190, american p 49 and the russian mig 3 so there lol, crap its a gun poll not plane lol forgot my own poll thing lol

The Bren

I recall a conversation with an older fellow who used the Bren in the field. His complaint was that the cone of fire at range was too small!! I wish all my rifles had that problem.

Summer of 1951, SOF in COTC, Infantry, at the ranges at Valcartier, on the firing line, Comand "bursts" meaning 2 or 3 rounds, me, with the change lever on full auto but enough trigger control to fire single rounds, each one aimed. The VanDoo Sgt. "Sir, the command is bursts!" , me,"I got my two 28 round mags off in the alotted time - check the target"
The Sgt. ...... "sputter, sputter........"

I mentioned the Thompson because the Brits and Commonwealth forces used them in North Africa and Italy. For planes, The Spitfire Mk.V for me too. I know the Hurricane was the hero of the Battle of Britain, but there was a helluva lot more war left after that was finished.

The P-51 Mustang, the finest British designed plane the Americans ever built, Gordon Bell- Merlin mechanic RCAF and instructor at S.A.I.T. deceased.

The bren gun, browning 9mm and lee enfield are the 3 most popular still so far. next week i will do a poll of the two most popular of each of the 4 nations,

the BREN vs the Hipower vs the (whatever Mk) lee enfield vs the Focke wulf190......

I dont get it......
