Which caliber for a MARLIN lever rifle?

.22, .22!!!

:D LOL, j/k. It would be very cheap, though, if such a lever exists...

Are you kidding?
Have you tried to buy a Marlin 39A Mountie lately?
I just had a picture of mine on these threads once and got two PMs, wanting to buy it!

i just got a marlin 44 mag last september and it is a beuty havent used it on deer yet but it will do just as good as any 30-30 but i still will buy a 30-30 just because its a staple in my opinion.

Ok...I was under the impression that .45LC brass couldn't take being loaded like that.

That used to be a common belief then John Linebaugh 10 - 15 years ago invited himself over to Ross Siegfried's place and introduced Ross to the unbelievable powers of his 45 Colt loads/revolvers and the rest is history...

Basically the 45 Colt will/can out perform a 44mag with lower pressures and with heavier bullets.

Here is a tidbit for you the 45 Colt out of a rifle will out perform a 30-30 out to 150 yards the 30-30 due to its higher BC's will then retain it's velocities and energies better than the 45 Colt though.
