Looking for something light weight so , please , choose one and let me know why.

If you were to choose between these three cartridges for hunting that would go from deer to moose(including black bear and maybe grizz) which one, in your opinion, would be the one.

Thank you

If you want light weight then the 7-08 is generally available in lighter packages. It'll do you up to moose with premium bullets. If you really insist on hunting grizz with the same gun then 30-06 is going to be your best bet. Tikka T3 lite, win featherweight, browning a-bolt/xbolt are some nice lightweight guns

For a lightweight gun for deer and moose, I would go with a 7mm-08, although it wouldn't be my choice for a grizzly hunt. Actually, none of those cartridges would be my first choice for a grizzly hunt.

30-06 = you can load from 110gr to 220gr bullets if you go with a Barnes .470 BC 168gr TTSX your good to hunt anything including grizzly in North America...

For years I swore of the .270 and 30 06 but last summer I took a friend to get a RoeBuck with his T3 in 30 06. dead right there is a good description. Even though he used Ballistic tips much to my annoyance therre was next to no meat damage but the bullet exited at a strange angle! I no longer shout overkill but I do sy=till have a downer on BT for meat damage due to earlier experiences. 30 06 or 270 should be fine, its all about shot placement even on larger animals but dont quote me for bear, I figure using a ground attack jet isnt enough!

7mm-08 if you are looking for light weight, although all of those will do the job.

Remington Mountain LSS would be a nice carry rifle if you can find one.

You can go 100 to 150 grain effectively in 7mm-08 for most applications, the 140 seems to be the weight of choice for best ballistics and big game. Go compare 7mm-08 140 grain accutip and 30-06 150 grain accutip on the Remington website, ballistic calculator, you may be surprised at the down range ballistics.

Out of those three choices I'd go for the 280,..it'll do everything the 7-08 will do and most of what the 30-06 will do. I you real feel you need a 180 over a 160 then go 30-06.

I would go with the 280 as first choice, the 30-06 second, and the 7mm-08 last. I would suggest the difference in weight between action lengths is insignificant. There will be more difference between different models of guns.

If the Grizzly was not on the list I would say the gun you are looking for would be chambered in 7mm-08. Because of the big bears I would have to say 30-06.

The ideal situation would be to have a gun dedicated to the grizzly and a seperate gun for all your other big game needs.

All those cartridges will kill the same animals just as dead, and just as well. FInd the rifle you want and buy it, regardless of chambering.

WHen you want to go hunt grizzlies, buy a .375 Ruger.;)

The sooner people realize this, the more money they will save, and the less threads we will have here...:p

I flip flopped a fair bit with rifles and cartridges and finally realized they are all pretty much the same, after taking my moose this year with my .308. I always knew it, but had to see it for myself I guess...:D

i got to agree with camp cook on this one. 30-06 personally i would be grabbing for something bigger then 30-06 for grizz just cause i don't believe i would enjoy living with one leg. 30-06 may be old but she is a steady lass and very wide choice of bullets too

Tikka T3 Lite SYN stainless in 30-06 out of your 3 calibers.
30-06 will cover just about all of your shooting needs and best of all shells are widely available from big sports stores to the smaller hardware stores in every rural corner.
