Which case trimmer???

I just started reloading rifle cartridges and for that reason I purchased the Frankford Arsenals Platinum trimmer. I liked the reviews that I saw online.

It is compact and does trimming and deburring all in one station. I keep mine in a large tupperware container in order to contain all the shavings.

Unfortunately, my deburr and chamfer tools both dulled quickly, only after about 100 pieces of 223. Fortunately Frankford is sending replacements up for free. I was told that the pieces in my unit were not correctly heat treated.

I used to trim using the RCBS hand trimmer.......ugggg. It works....but if you do any quantity its a real pain to use.

Then......I purchased The Worlds Finest Trimmer 2 for the .223 and .308. Works with my cordless hand drill. I love it. Trimming used to be the worst part of reloading.....now its fast and fun. Very good results. I highly recommend.....

Just my 2 cents....

Ive used a lee system, RCBS system, Redding and wilson/sinclair

The wilson sinclair win hands down for quality of cut and easy of use. now that being said, its expensive and you need a sleeve for every caliber you do.

The redding works very well, but I find it finicky, if you short stroke to the turning arm when setting a new case you can damage the lock button, with a good rhythm its quick and easy.

The RCBS, it jams up easy, it is prone to cutting crooked if you put a bit to much pressure on... and pressure is dictated by how much spring power you have left in the sheel holder.... it crap

LEE, fantastic results for very little money.... and man your hands hurt after a few casings... never tried it with a drill. once again you need a new set of tooling for each caliber, and you really don't have control of how much you cut off.

I use the Lyman Universal Case Trimmer and it works great for me and trim length is always consistent, but if you are trimming alot of brass I would recommend getting the "Carbide" cutter head for it.
Now with that being said I think the Wilson Sinclair is probably the best, and the Forster next.

Another vote for Giraud, especially if you are trimming in bulk.

This^ My only gripe is I didn't get it sooner. Heads and tails above anything else IMO. I have a Wilson Stainless trimmer with the micrometer and it is very accurate with the power adapter. Once you get going its pretty quick but nothing is as fast and accurate as the Giraud trimmer as it trims chamfers and deburs the same time. I found that the chamfering and debuting took the time and was not as accurate when doing it by hand. I like to think I make pretty consistent ammo but with the Giraud trimmer my runout has decreased even more. I really like the Wilson and said I would never get a Giraud but like the saying goes buy once, cry once and now I wish I should have just got it in the first place.
