Which Chrony to buy?

I'm not telling you not to buy one, by all means do so. They are very useful instruments when used properly.



If you don't handload, the chrony is a waste of money that could be better used to buy hand loading equipment or more ammunition.

I see all these references to chrony's not being too accurate. I have put two of them one behind the other and shot three shots through both of them, they were within 10 feet per second of each other. So tell me, why do they have the reputation of not being too accurate?
 
I've used 4 CED M2's and they have all crapped out. I wouldn't give you a nickle for one.

I've used the Shooting Chrony and they are GTG.

I have a PACT Professional that's been in use for over 11 years and given stellar performance.
 
Accuracy with the Chrony's is compareable. but ease of use ie not. I like the Masre Beta??. With the Beta you can shoot multiple strings and review them later at home. The Masater feature allows you to control the unit withr a remote from your bench and gives a readout at the bench so your not always walking that 15 yds to reset. Of course the more you get the more you pay.

Chronys seem pretty reliable to me. Their only down side is they have an absolutely horrible user interface. If your not using one regularly it is pain trying to remember how to work the features when you do take it out of the range bag.

Chrony if your reading this, YOUR user interface SUCKs! :D

Glad to see I'm not the only one using PACT. I just bought a new Professional after my previous PACT, purchased in the 80's , started dropping readings. Like that built in printer. PACT offered a significant discount as the original could no longer be repaired. PACT does deal direct, shipped on Friday from Texas, delivered following Thursday.

I've used Chronys for years and been satisfied. The one I have now has the remote readout and records strings of shots.

I once did an in-line comparison with an Oehler. With the Oehler closest to the muzzle the Chrony read a few fps lower than the Oehler. When I put the Chrony closest to the muzzle the Oehler read a few fps lower. So, the bottom line is that the results were functionally identical. The Chrony cost about 1/4 of what the Oehler cost.
