Which companies should I avoid?

Welcome to the forums !
I've dealt with many of the sponsors, i pretty much buy everything from restricted to parts, big money to the smallest of orders without a single concern. One thing I have noticed is I've gotten the best prices I could shopping the sponsors vs. my local store

Hi. Decide how much money you can spend and what you want to do with a firearm before you do anything else.
'Which companies' covers a lot of different stuff. You thinking retailers or makers?
For the former, forget any American shops/sites. And don't compare U.S. and Canadian prices. Costs a lot more to do business here, there far more government interference and our market is 1/10th the size of the U.S. market.
For the later, there are virtually none here. Lots of builders and a few U.S. owned factories, but nobody makes firearms exclusively for the Canadian market.
Some of those U.S. manufacturers are selling on their name. Colt is one. Nothing wrong with the stuff but the prices are higher because of the name.

Any of the sponsor businesses are good to go... Try get run out quickly if their service sucks!

For manufacturers you are better off searching the threads to see if your question has been asked before, or post your own thread if it's something new... You'll find some questions get "Chevy vs. Ford" answers... Eg: a portion of shooters LOVE Glocks, other guys HATE them... Good luck!

The best thing to do to help you determine what kinds of guns to buy and who to buy from is to read and ask questions. Everyone is different. At least here you can reach out directly to the dealers and form your own opinions. FWIW my go-to is Wolverine.
