Hi All,

Sorry if this has been asked a dozen times already. I did search, but am still a little confused. I shoot recreationally only, and reload and periodically cast my own.

I am going to trade up from my SR9, and have narrowed it down to the CZ 75, with the Beretta 92 a close second. I am leaning towards a CZ Combat, if I can find one, simply for the adjustable sights. My question is... which CZ pistol in the $800 dollar range offers the best all round package. I am not fussed about firing pin block or not, decocking, and a rail isn't important at all etc. just interested in the best, most shooter friendly option for around that price... or am I better off buying an Omega, and spending the extra on some nice FO sights? I do like FO sights:). I am not the best shot, but really like an accurate setup.

I have always liked the 92 as well, but am having a little concern over the decock/safety position. The CZ just seems more ergonomic, and from what I read, they shoot pretty much the same.

Thanks for any advice fellas.

I like the "Standard" CZ 75 Shadow it's a great shooter very accurate for me and has all the upgrades requested by Leos & competition shooters.

You can get the next model up with the slim grips and trigger work for a higher price but I found my particular gun very smooth and was not enough of a difference from the upgraded model for me to spring for the additional cash.

I've shot the Berreta 92 and really like the quality and finish but found it not as nicely balanced as the CZ and could not get used to the longer trigger pull and safety that got in the way. (And could not hit a dam thing with it) lol

I still like the Beretta and if I had money to spare would buy one to try and master but the choice was clear to me..

My eyes are on the Shadow SP-01 for the value. Not sure the few tuning on the Canadian Edition really are really worth the extra a few hundred dollars.
Of course, being a Canadian Edition itself, could be priceless. :)

I would say the standard SP01 Shadow, the gun almost shoots itself. I added lighter recoil and hammer springs, a stainless guide rod and thin aluminum grips. Turned out a great shooter and still less money than the CDN edition

For a 'shooter' CZ75 - get one without 'B' or firing pin block as well as pay attention to the sights. You need to see sights well to shoot well. Also, both SP01 standard and decocker version have quite thick front sight that makes it more difficult to shoot accurately at distances over 20-25m.
IMHO, any Shadow variant is a very good and best choice.
Combats' sights are not so great and rear one can come apart. They also have weaker frame due to ambi slide stop where slide stop is more prone to breakage (right side) as well.

Shadow is sounding good. Slightly more than I was wanting to spend, but sounds like it's worth it.

You should assess the use to which the pistol will be applied prior to making your selection so as to make the proper choice. cZ does make a range of pistols for different uses and you do not want to make a choice and be disappointed later.

Its hard to fault the shadow, great trigger, fo front with, black rear(just how I like it),like the standard rubber grips...but love the aluminum slim grips.....see if you can get to shoot any of them before you buy..you will not be disappointed..

I was going to purchase a new standard CZ 75 Shadow without the firing pin block but opted for a used CZ 75 Shadowline with the Aluminum grips because of a good price and about 2K rounds fired by original owner. It is a beautifully made pistol, I am happy with the purchase though I have not yet been to the range.

First thing I noticed when I got it was the significant trigger pull of about an inch before a nice clean break, something I have not encountered previously. I suppose this is normal?

I don't know whether the SP-01 with its railed dust cover is better/different in any significant way, though it seems competitive shooters might be leaning towards the SP-01. Personally, I have no need for the rail and can't speak about any other significant differences.

What extra one pays for a Shadow is gonna be well appreciated when the gun is used for shooting.
I had 3 other CZ HGs - SP01 Tactical, Combat and 75B SA and parted with all of them leaving me with just SP-01 Shadow.
SP01 Tactical had thick front sight but deal breaker was decocker - it didn't allow high grip as I couldn't rest thumb on the lever.
Combat was a little too light and 3-dot sights it came with were not that great.
75B SA was a great gun, especially after full trigger job and sights and trigger change, it shot more accurate than my Shadow, but being SA it limited me to what Divisions I could shoot it in.
I lost money buying and selling the guns I didn't keep, just buy what works for you best first time.

Normal take up on the trigger, don't notice it anymore and seems easy to find the wall.
I like the factory rubber grips the best. I have been using VZ grips for some time, might put them up for sale as I think they are too small for my hands. For me it's the Shadowline and rubber grips (if they fit??). Don't really need the dust cover (added weight for recoil management), and the regular 75 front looks classic, not the same but kinda like a Beretta 92 for good looks.

Now, are you guys suggesting the "Shadow Line", which looks like the standard CZ 75, or the SP-01 Shadow. The SP-01 Shadow goes for $850ish, but the Shadow Line goes for $1100, which would put it, unfortunately, out of my reach. Looks like the Shadow line has a tuned trigger and some other goodies, but it's too rich for me.

I have the SP-01 "non-shadow" its the only gun I've ever consistently shot well with . . . I just started shooting IPSC and I feel like I'm cheating because it is so accurate!!! For the record I've had a over 10 other handguns from Sigs to SAMs and the only way I'd sell it is if I lost the use of both hands!

I would just go with the SP-01 Shadow which runs around $850ish plus tax. maybe it's on the high end of your budget, but it's good value to keep or resale. you won't regret it.

I have a shadowline which is great and I've out plenty of rounds through it this ipsc season, my girlfriend shoots a sp01 shadow and it recoils lighter but the trigger isn't quiet as smooth but still nice. I also have a pre b 75 that I bought as a ipsc backup and its super accurate with a good trigger.. Conclusion they are all great... Buy one
