I have decided that i am going to buy a CZ 22 rifle.
after years of watching everyone post about how much they love them i figured i should probably try one out.

my question to the forum is this.... if you where to buy just one CZ 22 rifle which would you buy?
ive been looking at them and there seems to be a few different ones.

i had been leaning towards the 452 Scout.
but then i thought that id just go with the plain vanilla 455 American.
then i saw the 455 Canadian and thought..... ya thats pretty!

but then i thought if im only to buy one maybe i should get one with a bull barrel, so i looked at the 455 Varmint.

and then there is the 455 American Combo, thats tempting.

and i see some people saying that if your gonna get a CZ then get a 452 cause they are better then the current 455's.

so now im lost.

this gun just just for plinking.
BUT when i plink i like to put all my shots through the same hole, so lets call it plinking bordering on benchrest shooting is what im looking to get out of the gun.

any suggestions??

I used to have a 455 lux then sold it and got a 452 lux. The 452 is nicer. Better trigger, sights and the stock fits the hands well. The 455 was really nice as well but I just couldn't get used to the v notch rear sight.

I have the 452 & 455 American and like them both the 452 is my favorite, don't think you can go wrong with any of them, pick some up and go from there.

452 Varmint
453 Varmint
455 American
455 Canadian
455 American Combo
455 Super match

those are in stock available right now from what i can see

If you can get a 453 Varmint, then your dilemma is over. The 453 has a single set trigger (SST), which allows it to be light for use off the bench when set and otherwise be a heavier trigger suitable for field use.

The 455 American and 455 Canadian are the same rifle, but the Canadian has a red dyed beech stock with a maple leaf, while the American has a walnut stock.

All 455's can swap barrels easily, and the combo comes with two barrels, .22LR and .17HMR, and two magazines.

The Super Match has a beech stock and a ten shot magazine and iron sights. The other rifles must be scoped.

The 452 models are being phased out, according to CZ itself. In the U.S. there have been 452 Americans available recently, but few if any 452 Varmints. Both here and in the U.S. there have been some 452 Lux models available. They have a hog back stock, which is great for open sight shooting, a tangent rear sight (and a front sight, of course) and a walnut stock.

Here's my thinking on what to get. Get a 453 if you can because they are getting increasingly difficult to find new -- and they are terrific rifles with the SST. The 452 is worth serious thought, too, as they are getting harder to find new. The 455's will be around for a long time, and since many CZ shooters find it difficult to resist getting another CZ rifle, you can bank on those models being available in the future. To illustrate, I began with a 455 American and now have a few more CZ's, including the 453 Varmint, which is my favourite.

The 455 Canadian is a thing of beauty. I finally had mine sighted in this weekend. Followed the barrel break in procedure and it was immediately a tac driver. Lots of compliments from the boys on this one.

Had a 452 Australian (an American with a beech wood stock) and a Varmint.
Currently the 455 American is becoming a favourite over the Varmint with a thumb hole Laminate.
The Varmint is currently out for a Bedding/Pillar job.
There are a number of variations through the 452, 453 and 455 in stocks.
My American showed the greater improvement with reshaping the firing pin. Both triggers are in the 1+ range using YoDave trigger kits.
The following is a group with the American using the last of a box of Eley Match at 100 meters.

Consistent velocity isn't everything . . . it is the only thing!

I've owned multiple configurations of the 452, 453, and 455. If I had to pick one as best, it would be the 453 (bonus points for the fluted barrel version). In a sporter barrel, the nickel 452 style was my favorite.

If your not going to carry it through the woods and not concerned about weight I would say CZ455 Varmint.I had a 452 Varmint and not sure what all the hype was about my 455 out shoots it.If your going to carry it probably a 455 american. If I shot off the right I would definately try the 455 Varmint thumbhole with the fluted barrel. You say you like too shoot tiny groups so here,s a sampling of my455 varmint from Friday and this was with a slight breeze.

453, then run to the parking lot yelling START THE CAR.

Hahaha, that'd be me if there was one locally.

I bought my first CZ about a year and a half ago, I now own 5, with a sixth and seventh teasing me right now! There is a couple of 452 American's in town that are tempting me, and a 550 Safari Magnum in .375 that I just can't bring myself to call the vendor and see what the wood on the stock is really like. Be warned, being bitten by the CZ bug is super serious!

The only .22 I own so far in CZ flavor is a 452 Varmint, and it is one of my "never-sell" guns.

452 Lux, 452 Full stock. Had a 452 THV, found it heavy to carry, traded for the Lux. Over at Rimfire Central, lots say the 452 fs is their most accurate.

Praire Gun traders lists a 452 Lux FYI

I had a 455 fs and 455 american both in 22lr. Sold both and run 452 lux, american. Both of those are way more accurate with cheap ammo(blazer, mini mag, cci subsonic hp) then the 455's ever were. The sights on the 452 lux are way better then the 455's.

I feel that the 452's have a fetter feel then the 455's do to me they almost feel cheaper

Have had lots of 22 lr rifles........Now have only one and not looking for others. It is a 452 varmint....Well made, nice action, accurate, great trigger (yo dave) and not all that heavy to carry around . I think it would be just what you are looking for.

Any of the 453's. There's the American, the lux, and the varmint. They're probably the cream of the crop...

If looking at a 455, the ultra match, the jaguar, the trainer, and the lux 2 would be the best ones if you want iron sights. 452 in a full stock if you want to go that way... Not as much of a fan of the 455 full stock...

If you want a scope, the american or varmint it is...

I wanted a good .22 for open sights - picked up an UltraLux and I love shooting it. I tried a 453 and it was great, but the price people are asking for them I would be tempted to step up to an Anschutz or similar.

I have owned a 452 Varmint, 453 Varmint and 455 thumbhole/fluted. I only own the 455 TH/F now. The 452 V was nice but not as accurate as I had hoped, the 453 was just not for me ( I didn't like the trigger) and the 455 with the heavy fluted barrel is fantastic, although I think I will eventually switch the thumbhole stock for a Boyd's Pro Varmint stock (I had one on the 452V and really liked it).
