I made an offer today for a brand new Sauer 90 in 300 Win Mag. I read a lot about this rifle and I'd be happy with one. I'll update you guys if the deal work out good.

Nice rifle and very nice wood.

I`d choose a Merkel for a switchbarrel. And waiting for the new model Helix to hit the gunshops. From the information I read it is more secure than for instance Blaser R8/R93. This due to how the action is constructed. The risk of getting the bolt in your face is (almost) eliminated, this is not the case with Blasers.
Today I have Sako and Tikka, will keep them since they shoot really well and just because I like them.

Since we're talking a European rifle, I'd go for the traditional European look with a Česká Zbrojovka's CZ 550 FS with the full Mannlicher stock and in .30-06 or 9.3x62.

I suppose I'd then have to wear lederhosen and a hat with a feather. And drink Czech and German beer.

Look forward to seeing the pictures:). What do you have in mind for 'glass' to put on it? Similar to what's pictured?

I already have a S&B PMII and a Zeiss Conquest mounted on other rifles. I'll probably install the Conquest just to try her out and break the barrel. I have to save some money before the fall to get a S&B Zenith 2.5–10 x 56 or similar with EAW pivot mount and bases. Or maybe the new S&B Summit 2.5-10 x 40but I still have to read some reviews on it.

Back in the day when I was serving in the Airborne Regiment, a fellow paratrooper had one of these Colt/Sauer rifles given to him as a gift from his father.
What a glass-smooth operating bolt rifle! Many of us were very envious.....

Any Merkel, Blaser, or Mauser. Sometimes you have to open your wallet a little wider (or remortgage your house) to own true quality and craftsmenship. Once you handle a premium rifle, you quickly realize how ####ty your marlington is!

Depends where you shop buddy. Myself I purchased an FN Mauser already converted to 458x2inch American. Included in the deal was the RCBS dies, and 44 loaded rounds, and the after market walnut stock was sweet. For the grand total of $400. All the metalwork was done by an Albertan locksmith/part-time gunsmith from the Lethbridge area.

So true, I sold one of my AI AWSM and a S&B scope to pay for this new project.

Blaser for me too. Switch barrel rifle with a .243 barrel and a 9.3x62 bolt and barrel.

Blaser. My .308 and my .257 Weatherby barrels both shoot under 1 inch, often under half.

And that's with scopes I can take on and off all day.... Very handy.

I've heard of Blaser rifles blowing up due to firing pins breaking.....I sure hope these aren't the guns you guys are using.????
