Sorry, I know little about both rifles but at first glance my though would be the lever action (Winchester, right?), only because it has a faster follow up. Then I see the .303 British, one of my favourite rounds. I have a soft spot for the .303 Brit and under the right hunting conditions all you need is one shot. The lever action would make more sense but I would personally go with the single shot. I am guessing it is a Ruger No.1? Only advantage of the single shot over the lever is that the .303 is a more capable round, IMO.

The Ruger Number One in .303 British calibre. After over 60 years of hunting from Coast to Coast in Canada, I have found that the first shot you get at a game animal is the one that really counts. Anything after that seems to be a salute to a departing target.
 
Big bore 94 every time at least in the areas I hunt. Nice light rifle too carry, peeps work great for quick acquisition in heavier brush, heavy bullet will hold its course through the thick stuff and its a Winchester.

I've only ever shot two Ruger #1 rifles and they were both in 303. Thoroughly enjoyed the experience.

I'd go with that one. With the scope you could shoot anything in North America out to 200-250 yards and as has been mentioned before, the first shot is the most important one anyway.
 
Both very nice rifles but I'd have to go with the no.1 for the sole fact that it suits my current style of hunting ie. Spot/stalk and still hunting. 10 years ago I wouldve taken the lever as we used to do a lot of driven hunts.
 
The #1, absolutely no contest...

...but we're allowed to re-chamber, right? :)

I just bad-mouthed the AR and the Swiss Arms in one sentence in the Black Rifles forum, so I guess I'll drop a grenade here as well: I don't like the .303...my interest in it is purely nostalgic. It was the first centerfire rifle cartridge I ever fired. Aside from that...meh...
