Hi guys, hoping for first hand experience. I want to refinish my Spartan that after over 20k shows significant holster wear and is down to bare metal on the slide and frame rails. The 2 choices are armacoat or cerakote. Is there any diference between the 2 in terms of durability? Price appears to be around 200$ and I would ship the gun fully disassembled to save a few bucks (not interested in DIY). I want OD green and they both appear to have that color. Thoughts? Thanks!

The honest answer is you can't go wrong with either one. They're both high grade finishes. If you're sending it out to Arma or a certified Cera applicator the price difference will probably be minimal. It's then mostly a question of convenience. Who offers the best turn around.

if you go to the cerakote website and hit the find an applicator tab it gives a listing. Looks like there is a certified applicator in Hope, BC.

That would be me. Give me a pm or e mail and I will be happy to answer any of your questions. Check the main NIC industries Cerakote websight to see how Armacote compares to Cerakote. Cheers.

I am a big fan of Arma-Coat. I refinished my own M-14 in black. The finish turned out awesome and it was easy to use. I can't say I have done much in the way of smashing it around but it sure seems durable. I have before and after pics if you want (at least I think I still have them). I painted the M-14 so that the finish looked the same as the Blackfeather stock I put it in not because of roadrash. I didn't like the grey colour of the parkerizing. Just my 2 cents.

I hope I am not breaking rules by providing these links but I have seen many links to info and youtube in the past so I think it is fine. It is for educational and information purposes. I think it should allow you to make an informed decision based on scientific testing as opposed to anecdotal stories. Cheers.
