I'm thinking I should spoil myself with a really nice 22LR bolt gun. Trouble is I can't decide which one.

I'd like to keep it under $1K if possible. Seeing as I usually end up spending way more than I intended to ($2000 when I went looking for a $300 scope, $650 for my M305 when I was about to buy one from Marstar) we'll see how my self-imposed limit holds up.

Any reccomendations? And no, I'm not going to buy a 10/22 and spend the extra on ammo! You'd think I knew you guys or something!

I have a Cooper model 57-M Light Varmint Target on order.

I originally ordered it in 22LR, but switched it to 17HMR a few weeks later.

Only 3-4 more months 'til she should be ready.

Sako finnfires are nice and sure do shoot. The only neg. is that they share the same plastic parts as there big bros., the modern Tikka as well as the same rediculous price for plastic magazines.

I think for more money the Coopers, Kimbers or the Anschutz 1700 serious are a little nicer.

I've owned two, a Cooper Arms Model 36 and a Kimber Classic that I still have at least for the time being.

The Cooper was more accurate with a better trigger pull. It was a heavy barrel and would shoot clover leafs at 50 yards all day long. I sold it because I wasn't going to be doing any .22 competitions and it was a heavy rifle to carry in the field.

The Kimber came my way via a private sale as compensation for an outstanding loan. It was NIB and while a very good looking rifle didn't compare with the Cooper or to the Anschutz rifles that I've tried. After some wrangling with magazines and a poorly fitted bolt stop it now works acceptably. It's a very pretty plinker and a light gun to carry.

I'd start with the Cooper Arms Model 57 if I was willing to wait for it to come in from the States. Second choice would be the Anschutz and the Sako would be third.

If you've got a grand to spend, get a used Anschutz 54, a Winchester 52, a BSA International or a Walther KKJ.

I don't see a 1416 in my 2004 price list.
1451R - $570
1451E - $620
1903 - $1048
1907 - $2355 - 3165
1912 - $2700
1913 - $3050-3695
2007 - $2550
2012 - $3225
2013 - $2550-3855
64MP - $950

good 22

I shoot in .22 bench rest matches.. There are winners with the Winchester Model 52 and Anschutz 1500 & 1700 series guns and they take 1st, 2nd and 3rd almost all the time. A couple of others get in there but not often.
