Which hunting rifle do you love to hate?

Savage=Junk

Working the action on a "salvage" reminds me of putting the lid on a steel garbage can...Good choice for people on welfare.
I'd rather eat worms, but if I was on skid row and it was the only rifle I could afford I might do it.
Hard to say.....
You guys on Gunnutz love this thing, but to me a good rifle must be more than just accurate.

A-Bolt = Fail!
The A bolt is a good rifle for a guy that should be on welfare, but is somehow clinging to his job.
The A-Bolt should have been sold with an Eco fee....So you don't have to pay to dump them.

Most 45/70 guide gun owners......
If I have to listen to the "long range prowess" and "stopping power" of the 45/70 one more time.!!!!...Never mind.

I'd rather eat worms.

I have no great affection for Remington, or Marlin. I can't say I hate them, except for few models. They just don't do anything for me.
Remington, I don't like the safety, and I don't understand why they can't seem to get it right. Recalls are pretty thick in Remington's history in this regard.
Marlin, I don't like the blocky appearance of the receiver, or the fat forend of most of their lever guns.

Don't feel that way about any rifle but among shotguns it is the Browning Auto 5 with extra bonus points for the Sweet 16.

Sorry folks but I like them all.

Of course I have preferences but if you were to ask which ones appeal to me the least for hunting I would include:

1. Savage bolt action

2. Milsurps including the Lee Enfield

3. Ruger

5. Lever action/pump action/semi-auto

6 30-06 caliber

7. Blind or drop floor plate magazines

Etc

And when it comes to value for money, I would select Tikka over Sako any day. I've had several vintages of both of these makes and I still have but when I go moose hunting. My T3 in 300 WM is usually my preference, although the TC Encore Pro Hunter has caught my attention.

Wow. as I sit watching the haters. :) I wonder why anyone would ever hate the 30.06 (I hunt with it) or the Mossberg ATR (I hunt with it as well so as not to mess up anything nicer) It has always performed very well and taken deer and moose out to almost 400 yards for me. Price wise you can't beat the combo and it is like an anvil that just won't break. Oh well. To each their own. (Pets his 30.06 ATR saying “its ok, I still like you”) :dancingbanana:

I don't care for the fit or feel of the new Remington VTRs.

Ones that top my most hated list:

Norinco Bush Ranger (JW-103)
Remington 710
Mossberg ATR

I am not a big fan of the T-3's or the A-Bolts. They are not 'junk' and lots of people like them, I think they are over-priced for their quality level. Just my opinion.

anything chambered in 270

there is no room in my collection for a 270, its got to be the most overrated cambering ever invented. Do everything Hrumph  that just means does nothing particulary well.

and really who in their right mind only wants one gun for everything :p

(unless its your wife controling your gun budget :runaway: )

Nothing uglier than a TC Encore or whatever those POS's are called now.

Uglier than a bulldog eating #### off a hot stove.

Pump Rifles....

My rifles preference goes to bolts & levers.

Can put up semi-autos but I can't stand pump rifles.

NAA.

..... anything tactical. :puke:

I'm sick of seeing Remington and the like pumping out "Team Ninja Desert Recon Digital Camo Extreme Entry Tactical Weapons Systems" to every prepubescent pimple squeeezzer who graduates from playing x-box. ;)

yup had a T3 in .223 had to buy another clip as the 1st piece of plastic wore out . it shot very good but i traded it on a .223 savage with a 26" fluted S/S pipe. And nope i would never buy another T3

You what rifle I hate? STEYR! I hate them because they look so nice and have that hefty price tag that should assure you of it being the nicest rifle you will ever hold. Then you pick it up and try to cycle the action... feels all wrong... Like you are cycling a bolt action .22 Marlin and the bolt isn't really moving enough. Then you try to look through the scope and find that the stock was made for a mutant who has oddly deformed cheeks. If you have one and love it good for you. I wouldn't take one out hunting if it were the last rifle on earth. I'd rather use a .50 cal ball and sling shot and risk starving to death. And what is with the name Mannlicher? Maybe you like to lick men but I sure as hell don't!

After that comes the nice looking Kimber rifles. They look the way rifles are supposed to be made and feel great in your hands. But no warranty for Canadians? Go to hell Kimber!

If I seem like I'm ranting like a madman.... blame the person who started this thread :p

1. Remington 710/770 - cheap plastic POS
2. Remington 742/7400 - jammomatic
3. Benelli R-1 - fugly
3. Browning A-Bolt - magazine is the worst of both worlds; looks even worse when you compare it to the old Mauser-actioned Brownings.
4. Tikka T3 - too much plastic for the price; like the Browining, it is inferior to its predecessors.
5. Weatherby - garish styling; not a magnum fan; expensive proprietary ammunition

You forgot...

MILSPEC!

:D

Also my vote goes for Enfields and their jamo-matic cartridge/rimmed case design.
I shudder to think how many lost their lives in Battle because of this system.

IMHO the only good ones ever made were the Pattern 14.
Even then how hard would it have been for them to copy the cartridge interrupter from the Mosin?

Adding to the list anything not in 6.5x55 Swede. :p
