which is best canadian barrel maker

I had a McLenon on a now-sold customised Remy and it was a tack-driver. I've seen and competed against a number of rifles outfitted with a McPhee and his barrels are also excellent.

in red deer there is a guy named Bob Jury (sp) but his barrels come rather unfinished on the outside to the rocky mtn house gunsmith, not sure why call custom gunworks in rocky to find out as I do not know Jeff

Yes it's my friend bob, I have two of his barrels, in 6.5mm and .338 dia, they used to come on finished but he got his polisher and spindle figured out and now they come all smooth and shiny, PM me for contact info, I don't want to infringe on any site rules, the barrels are $380 and come in most lengths, calibers, contours, gain twist or straight twists, they are worth a try.

Bob Jury is in fact at Red Deer...he learned his trade from Ron Smith over 5 or 6 years ...he still gets his barrel steel from Ron... I have had personal experience with 3 of his barrels and all shot very well.. he does not contour them (last I checked ) so they are 1.25" for the entire length...these are button rifled barrels... stainless or crome moly are available... I think he has a web-site but I'm not sure what it is... reguards

Barrels are a crap shoot. It all depends on what you are expecting out of them. In the short range game, a GREAT barrel will load develope groups in the very low 1's or 0's to be worthy of winning.

The other factors are is your load up to its optimum potential and can you read the wind and hold for the slight changes when running your group.
