which is better

I had a chance to compare a Leupold VX3 and a Zeiss T-3 in similar powers.
Whilst during the day they seemed comparable, when the sun was setting
the Leupold took it hands down.

Awpt the Leupold awptic …………………...jmho Downunder Laddie

keep in mind that the vari x line of leupolds is like 2 generations old i thnk. it went vari x, then vx-roman numeral and now vx-number. So if you're comparing an older leupold vs current other line it might not be fair. Although my vari x iii 6.5-20 efr on my cz455 is great.

Leupold, but if you can get the newer Freedom version the optics are supposed to be improved. Haven't seen the best reviews about the Zeiss Terra series, but to each his own.

I have / have had options 1 and 2 on your list. The VX2 2-7 is great, good optics, enough magnification and is small/low profile. Only negative is there is no locking ring on the ocular bell, buts is a minor issue. I would take the Leupold out of those 2, although the Burris gave me no issues.

Aw thanks gents.
i own all 3, they are on a Kimber montana, Abolt and a Ruger 1 at present... just wanted to see what the gist was with which was better... for no real reason, i feel they are wel suited for hat they are on...

Brand or features aside, which one has the best glass?

Very good Question- ive been pondering this since i seen it a few days ago....

ya now when its general huntin time through the day from sun up to an hour before sun down, theres very little in clarity- when the lights right an on a perfect day so to speak.

in the Am and definatly PM i find the Zeiss to be a tad brighter- it is quite a bit newer than the others, the fullfield about 10 yrs id say an the vari x is fraction 30+ easily, so no doubt alot of better coatings ?

i like the ff2 for its hashes on the capable 7-08..
the zeiss is just handy n a performer for QD rings on different guns?!.
the loopy is finiky o re sight i find, so it sits on ruger 1
