Which is the best .22 ??

As for cleaning a Ruger? You mean you are supposed to clean them? ;) Never have taken ours apart, and never will. Squirt brake cleaner in, shake it out and oil. Yes we do clean the barrel and chamber.

<snip>

One of the BEST features is that the Ruger and Buckmark can make use of the "Ultimate Cliploader". (Canada Ammo, at top of page, has them) You dump a box of 50 22s into it and load 5 mags in seconds. :D

I though that was just me. My 22/45 came to me dirty (used deal off the EE) and I have well over 1000 rounds through it since with no cleaning at all. Maybe 4-5 FTF while I was sorting out which ammo it liked and nothing since. One thing to note on the 22/45 is that the grip is quite thin, nothing like a single stack 1911 aside from the grip angle. I wish Ruger had simply splashed a grip mold off of a standard 1911 frame, it would have been a better grip for almost anyone. Second wish is for detachable grip panels instead of the one piece design. I like the checkered grips mine has, but options are always better and it would allow more people to customize fit and appearance of a great pistol. If Ruger offered the two changes I suggest, I would buy another on the spot.

The Ultimate Cliploader is a fantastic tool and makes disposing of a brick of rounds child's play. It takes literally less than a minute to load 4 mags (all I have at the moment) if the hopper is full.

I guess you can tell my recommendation on this one.:D

I just bought a Browning Buckmark Camper to accompany my M9. This is a no frills, basic .22 that sells for an "almost free" price of $320. I have put 1200 rds through it so far and it hasn't hicuped once. Accurate and well built, you cant go wrong with this one.

Well said. I have the same pistol and have had the same experiences, with ONE failure to eject with Remington ammo (no problems with American Eagle). The grip angle and control placement is very similar to my Ruger SR9, which makes the Buckmark a great companion pistol and a great practice pistol for me.

i'm looking at the ruger .22lr revolver called the single six. I've fired one twice before and I just love them. I also love the .22lr and the .22mag capabilities in 1 gun. It will be my next purchase.

Well there was a S&W 2206 at Epps that I tried to but ut it was sold.....I will keep searching.

As a note to drvage: I just saw a Taurus 22 revolver and it looked cool, stainless and big if that is what you like.

I have to agree, No limit on $$ S&W 41 :D:D...

Oh, yes!!!! Also, Armco (see sponsor link above) has a Browning Medalist, a Hi-Standard Supermatic and a Buckmark Target listed on his site.

ps- Crazyloch, when I saw your sig. line it reminded me of The Heart Attack Grill in Arizona.

I like Buckmark .22's

that said I have a Norinco M93 and for what I paid for it I'm pretty happy! accurate enough and haven't gven me any problems; it's just a cheap, ugly gun and I love it :D

Of the guns you have listed, I would choose one of the Rugers. Avoid the SIG Mosquito; they are pot metal junk!

Other alternatives worth considering:
-Browning Buckmark
-Kadet conversion for your CZ
-S&W Model 17 or 617
-S&W Model 41, if cost is no object. Older used ones often sell for much less than new.

I looked at the Sig PL22 trailside with the 6" barrel and the writing about it is very good ....anybody shoot with one of them yet ? Rod

The Sig Trailside is the US version, here in Canada we have the Hammerli X-esse. They are pretty much the same, but the grip is different. I have a 6'' X-esse that I bought used for 600$ on the EE and it is the most accurate pistol I have ever handled. The trigger is extremely light and the pistol is near the size of a regular 9mm pistol.

Ok I have a CZ 9mm and a S&W 686 and now after a few times to the range I was thinking of buying a .22 pistol for some more cheap fun. Shooting guns is awesome so the more guns to shoot the better :D

I have been looking at the following all in the about the same price range.

Ruger MK III Target
Ruger 22/45, Blued
Sig Sauer Mosquito
Smith & Wesson 22A

I don't know ? Which one is the best or am I missing another better one.

Had a Ruger MK I Bull Barrel, not sure about the II and III but field stripping the pistol was real PITA! And I sold it.

SS Mosquito is a small pistol even in my small hands and is a picky ammo eater from what I've read.

Don't forget the S&W 41 or the older 422 (I own a 422 and never for sale)

A friend has a Buckmark and it's really accurate with the right ammo.

If budget is not an issue I'd say go full size .22cal pistol. I really enjoy my Sig P226 22LR and if I had the $$$'s I would have bought a STI Trojan 9mm with a Kimber .22 conversion kit.

Here's my write-up on my P226 22LR:

STI Trojan 9mm with a Kimber .22 conversion kit

WHOE....that would be cool. I am kinda kicking myself for not buying a STI Trojan 9mm or even a Kimber in 45. The whole 1911 thing appears to be really cool and from what I am told the Trojan and other STI's are really accurate.

Anyway back on topic, I am going to keep an eye out for another 2206 or a 422 but if not I think I will get the current S&W 22 as the kadet kit is too much $$$$ for me right now.

I also have one of these, and they are very accurate.
Nice light alloy frame, and well ballanced.

side note, there seems to be the odd one for sale on the EE
more often than the Mark II's :)

PM me if you need a clip loader. Fantastic tool indeed.
I also have buckmark magazines available at $32 each.

I recently sold my piece of junk Sig Mosquito and bought a Ruger 22/45 mark ii with fixed sights and short (about 4.5" barrel). Balances for me better than the 5" bull barrel version.

Very solid gun, haven't shot it yet but looking forward to same. For Rugers buy yourself a deadhead rubber hammer. That hammer was used to:

remove the mainspring pin
remove upper receiver (took a lot of whacks to do so!)
put on upper receiver ( I just whacked front of barrel since crown was recessed and hammer was soft rubber.
force the latch pin back through slide.

Reassembling it was quite easy other than needing the hammer. Not at all the nightmares described on gun forums.

In my case i buy a Ruger MK2 last month, my gunsmith teach me how to strip it, no very hard.
Good grip, fun to shoot, a lot of fun with.
I recommend it!!!
