I think the H&Rs are nice if you're shooting a rimmed cartridge like the 30-30 or 45-70 but I had one in a .243 and found that the ejector would sometimes miss the rim of the shell and it would get stuck in the chamber. Not very reliable. I also have owned a Ruger #1 and found it nice, however, I have learned to appreciate the advantages of a good bolt action rifle over any single shot. I spend all year practicing and dreaming and preparing for my one week hunt. I need 100% reliability and a back-up plan just in case.
