Looking to restock my m70 CRF Ultimate shadow 300wsm
Which company makes a better laminate stock, Boyd's or Richards Microfit.
Are there other manufacturers that I'm not aware of?

Thanks

Plywood is plywood... if you want the nicest looking laminate check out Serengeti... http://www.serengetistockworks.com/

Serengeti Stockworks specializes in the production of fine solid wood rifle stocks. Our stocks are made of high-quality solid walnuts, including Bastogne, California English and California Claro in four grades. What sets our stocks apart from production and other custom wood stocks is our proprietary lamination process called ACRA-BondTM. It offers the discriminating sportsman the beauty and feel of a classic, fine solid wood stock while being virtually impervious to the accuracy-robbing warping effects of temperature and moisture changes. ACRA-BondTM lamination provides the stability and weather resistance advantages of conventional laminated and synthetic stocks without the "plywood" look of other laminated stocks, or the "plain Jane" look of synthetic stocks.

If your handy in wood working, the Richards is a nice looking stock, extra wood to get rid of, re shape, aloth of fun to work on. Would get the recoil pad already installed. Take your time picking the right color combo.
As mentioned Walnut is also an option on their site, and sales come up on occasion. The Wildcat in lamo. was my favourite. Desert sunset looks cool.

I have a Boyds JRS on my win m70. While the fit was nice, the price quoted for the vip drop in is not accurate in my view. They will ask if you would like holes drilled in the butstock and slots in the forend to reduce weight, would you like your stock to have sling swivel studs installed, both are xtra. Well who wouldn't? Of course I said ya ya ya whatever here is my visa #Then there is the recoil pad...
The bottom line is when finished you will have spent as much as a good quality synthetic but have a nice laminate.
I don't mind at all.

Now what do you mean by "good" qualtiy synthetic. If your talking about Bell&Carlson then thats a couple hundred dollars. If your talking about Bansner or wildcat then your talking much more.

I guess either way they got there "hands in your pockets"

I picked up a Boyd's JRS for my Win pre-64 M70. It was classed as semi-inletted because it is inletted for a featherweight rather then a standard weight. I had to do some work to get it to fit, but I didn't have any extra costs like the above guy mentioned. All of those things you can do yourself before you do the final sanding and finishing. It ended up looking okay, although I would go with the brown next time instead of the pepper. The first three shots after I sighted it back in went into 3/4" at 100 yards. They are pretty heavy though.

I also did a Ross Thumbhole for my 10/22 at the same time. It was VIP and fit no problem. Both stocks came with black "Boyd's" recoil pads. I think you can order them with decelerators or something too for extra.

Boyd's make some nice wood. And you can get your hands on a unfinished stock for (+/-) 75$usd. Can't go wrong!!!

here's a pic of my 10/22,
still need to add a couple coats of tru-oil to get a nice shine outta her, but you get the idea.
