which Lemi-Shine to use with wet tumbling?

I switched to citric acid from lemi-shine. Same result on brass.

You can get 10lbs of citric acid on amazon for $47 (shipped). 29 cents an ounce for citric acid versus 38 cents lemishine. That and well, at 10lb it's going to last a long time..

Don't drink the Kool-aid!

"Lemi-Shine and Dawn" recipe is nice but not necessary. Anything with a weak acid cleaner and a small amount of detergent with very hot water and the ss pins will do great.

Powdered Kool-aid packet, lemon juice, any source of citric acid is fine. I wouldn't worry about which "Lemi Shine" to use.

Today's favourite for me is the President's Choice Cool Delight tangerine grapefruit individual packages. Picked up 3 boxes for $.99 in a sale bin last week. Smells great and will do 30 batches of around 5lbs of brass (my home build contraption's capacity).

I had problems with the peening when I wet tumbled at first, I was having issues with hard and inconsistent bullet seating and even some copper shaving from the bullet when seating, now I just debur and chamfer before resizing and all is good. Also went from 3 hours to 2 and brass is still clean.

Your tumbling for far too long! 1 hour is more than enough to keep peening to minimal. I find the brass gets more peened when I shake dry them in the tumbler drum, thats due to brass on brass contact.

How many cases are you tumbling? I can have 100 308win cases in 5lbs of ss pins, cleaned including primer pockets in one hour. Now with 10 pounds I can put in 200 cases without any peening for 1 hour, more than that the peening gets bad.. Like at 2.5 hrs I had to re-size 15 peices as they were that badly out of round. After having to resize, re chamfer and debur that batch again I won't go past 90 minutes on my tumbler.
