Which Leopold would you Recommend???

Hey everyone, I’m just getting back into long distance shooting after being away from the sport for a while. I have a Remington 700 Police rifle in .308 and I’m looking for a scope to put on it. I figure the maximum range I’ll be shooting is 1000 yards. I’m hooked on Leopold scopes. I have put the links below of the ones I’m looking at. I’d appreciate any input you guys could give me, and if possible why you'de pick that particular one.

I have several MK4 6.5x20x50s and they are decent scopes to be sure, the only thing that really bothers me about ALL the Mk4s is that Leupold still insists on making scopes with milradian reticles, but moa turrets, which to me is like having a French reticle with English adjustments, WAY too much math for this old guy.
I have been slowly switching over my more important optics to Nightforce scopes, there is not alot of difference in the cost, but to have moa reticle with moa turrets or Milradian turrets with milradian reticles make far more sense and are far easier to use.
Now that NF is bringing out FFP scopes there should be no question which way to go.
We sell both brands, as well as a few others, but I believe the quality of either is about the same in all regards. Selling several hundred of each every year I see about the same amount of warranty issues with each. The only real difference is in the reticles/turret issue AND in how the warranty is dealt with. Leupolds official position is that any MK4 warranty issue is wholly up to the consumer to get permits in place to facilitate legal import and export of these scopes, all Leupold product except MK4s, Binocs, spotting scopes and LRFs are serviced in Canada.

Apparently you were more charming than we were, we got the bums rush from the Leupold booth, maybe it was the USO Tshirts we were wearing???:eek:
I certainly hope your intel is correct, that would make them for more user friendly.
Now if only they would bring out MOA reticles:)
 
No I talked to the Leupold rep that was at Horus Vision he showed us a pre production scope with Milradan turrets with a milradan reticle
 
I think you would be more than please with a Nightforce 8by32x56mm Benchrest
1/8 min clicks,luminated reticale, I love Leupolds but for me the Nightforce for longrange is a better buy, and very little price differance

I'm thinking you should get a Leupold vx3 in 6.5x20 or 8.5x25. First, there will be no warranty problem. Second, you won't need 1/8 clicks for shooting at 1K. I don't believe you will need to adjust your group any less than 1/4 moa at 1K with a 700P. I use the fine duplex at 1K on a 8.5x25...center of the target is easily quartered.

I'd get a NightForce but if your sticking with your list get the MK4 8.5-25x50. I have both but prefer the NightForce with a NP-R2 Reticule for the reasons Rick had mentioned. Both are excellent scopes, you can't go wrong.
