Marlin 795, Mossberg 702/Blaze, or Savage 64? Which would you choose for a low budget semi auto plinker that will shoot cheap bulk 36 grain golden bullets? I buy several buckets at a time and mostly use tubular magazine guns... so I will keep buying the cheap ammo... but my kids want a semi-auto... I want it to work with what I buy for ammo if it's me feeding them.

Which would you choose?

Out of the 3 you've listed I have the Mossberg. I probably wouldn't have gone out of my way to buy one, but I got it as a door prize. It's a decent gun, reliable, and accurate enough for plinking with usuable iron sites. It's really light, and kind of cheap feeling, but the hollow stock could be used for storage of small survival kit or something. The bolt stays open after the last shot, but it's just the mag follower that sticks way up, so when you pull the empty mag out to reload the bolt closes.

I vote for the marlin 795. When I had it I also only bought the cheapest 22lr I could find and it worked. Rifle was cheap and accurate. Its not flawless reliability but it is a semi 22lr rifle so sometimes it will fail to eject. I only sold it because I wanted a bolt action 22lr. Would buy again if I want a semi 22

I will always pick the 795 over any semi 22 rifle. Unless you want to ninja out your rifle. Then get a 10/22

That's not really on the cheap/low end side though... good gun I'm sure... but then I would be comparing to 10-22 as well. I just wanna spend about $200 as it's for my kids more than for me

It's such a better gun than the others mentioned I would save the few extra dollars.I paid 250 for mine new and easily can get them under 300.The trigger alone is worth the few dollars more.

Stay away from the mossberg. My buddies is a streaming pile of crap.

When I get a semi ill be buying a Marlin. I like savage but I hear the trigger on the 64 isn't very good. Plus I don't own anything Marlin yet...
