Which lower parts kit?

Hey Guys


I decided to get into AR's again, mostly due to the 10rnd loophole. Anyway I just received a new stripper Armalite lower. Opinions on the part kits, ie triggers etc. Went a overboard a few years ago on my last AR with a jewel trigger, lilja barrel etc, I want to keep it cheap this time. Thanks

My first choice is an Armalite LPK. Colt, of course, and various others just as well, but to me, DPMS lower parts kits are junk.
I've had several DPMS parts break on me prematurely and found various out of spec items. So they are out.

RRA NM 2 stage parts kit from Questar. RRA 2 stage match trigger is probably the best in the business under 200$

I have a DPMS lpk installed in mine and it seems ok.

I went with a Stag LPK on my Armalite lower and it fitted and worked perfectly.

I have used DPMS LPKs in my ARs. I was going to use an RRA LPK on a build but didn't like how rough the finish was on it compared to the DPMS I have used and sold it.

Maybe... but in four years I've never once had to replace broken fire control pins on an RRA LPK we sold... I can't say the same thing for the DPMS LPK's we sold... add to that the fact that we sold a much smaller # of DPMS kits as compared to RRA kits and this put the DPMS failures at an unacceptable rate. Though the price on the DPMS kits is lower we found the quality to be inferior... that was our experience and from speaking to other US sources we were not the only ones finding this. As a result we stopped carrying the DPMS kits entirely.

Maybe we were just unlucky but we had issues with numerous "production batches" over an extended period of time... various production runs they shipped were "out of spec" and had to be returned.

There's no doubt that the DPMS LPK is about the cheapest kit that can be sourced at wholesale... and that translates into a less expensive retail price... but if the product has issues then you have to question the value of those savings. Our experience made the decision very clear... at least for us.
