As the title says, my buddy and I would love to get out hands on a couple of H&K 91s, FN FALs or Galils. Since they're all prohib and unavailable to either of us we're looking for the nearest thing that is available with a restricted/non restricted license. I've been clued in to the Valmets but holy expensive and hard to come by. Any suggestions you could give us would be much appreciated. BTW, what was the logic behind banning the FALs, 91s and Galils anyway?

Valments run around $6k or better.

A fun Main Battle Rifle would be the M-14, which can be had as cheaply as $400, with cheap and readily available ammo.

There are others around, but most are far more expensive.

As theyve said the cheapest you can get so far is the M14S from Norinco , I believe theres also the AR10 however its pretty pricey , XCR is suppose to be releasing a .308 version sometime next year but information is slow to trickle in .

and just a side note , i understand how you feel the G3A3 is my Favorite firearm and i literally cried for almost 2 days when i found out it was prohibited.

yes i would do anything for a g3a3 im just hoping i can find one dewated

theres not much choices for battle rifles anymore unless you have a 12.6

You mean 12.5... 12.6 is short barreled, .25 and .32 cal. pistols.

Also your last sentence should read "There are not many", and capitalize the first word in your sentence and the personal pronoun "I"... Ok, so maybe I'm just giving you a hard time now. :p

Quick fact , the FN FAL was actually reclassified to non restricted at one point in canada . Ive got the date in an email i have with the RCMP . One has to ask , why.

yeah, I could have bought one for $300 when I first got my FAC but I didn't know anything and missed the boat. Fat lot of good it would do now anyways since all they are is dust collectors and I don't see that changing any time soon.

Any idea how anyone managed to get it re-classified?

Does anyone know if any court cases are currently ongoing to try and get it re-classified in any way?

There was a lot of BS with the laws and the FN FAL design in the late 80's. They were confiscating some as being converted autos. You could buy one legitimately, then lose it.

I'm not sure if it was re-classified, or it there were models or versions that were considered as semi-auto and for some reason not variants, then they started clamping down on some owners saying they were converted full autos and demanding they be turned back in.
