I have a Keystone Overlander in .22. I recently bought a Simmions 22mag scope for it, as iron sights are not working for me. Keystone makes a 3/8 dovetail mount or a picatinny mount for it. The Pic rail is nearly twice the price of the dovetail mount. Is there a reason I should go with the Pic mount? I haven't got rings yet, my goal is as light as possible and low as I can get it.

i like picatinny/weaver rails because they allow more mounting "space" for scopes of different lengths.

also, if youre getting a pic/weaver rail, get one with 20moa built in, since you're using a 22lr. Get all the elevation possible. And its sameprice as 0moa.

So to recap, I bought the Pic rail. The scope came with "weaver style" rings...which were apparently for a rimfire dovetail. They were far too narrow to fit the Pic rail. Too bad as I liked the rings. So I went out and got a set of low aluminum Pic rail rings. Hard to find 1" rings that are low and fit Pic or Weaver bases, so I paid dearly for them. I like the setup though, can always slap a reddot on in the future, now that it is a Pic rail, good call.
