Which mount is best for this setup?

Hey guys. My regulR haunt here is milsurp but I wanted a scoped rifle to start some longer range accurate shooting. So I'm new to owning a precision rifle but not shooting.

So I'm going to pick up a savage 110ba in 338LM

I'm thinking about grabbing a Trijicon Accupoint 5x20x50.

Would I need a cantilever mount for this? All the pics I see don't appear to have a cant. But want to be sure when ordering.

Can someone confirm that I don't need it set back?

Sorry if this is a rudimentary question but we all gotta start somewhere. Ask me about WW2 German weapons and I got you. Lol
 
Depends on scope eye relief and where your head position when the field of view is correct.. BUT I dont see why you would need a cantilever base.

I would suggest a quality standard ring and height to suit your comfort.

Wrong scope if you plan to use anywhere near the potential 338 Lapua has to offer, simply based on the lack of elevation in this particular scope. Also you will find it difficult to make precise shots with the reticles they offer.
Your best bet would be to ditch the factory supplied rail and attached cheese grater in favor of a decent inclined rail and decent quality conventional rings. This will allow you to get a proper cheek weld as well as to mount the scope where you actually can line up your eye with it.

I concur with ditching the factory rail for a more conventional one.

I was looking at a mount with 20moa built in? That should help?

Also just starting out with distance really, if I have I upgrade the scope to match my abilities down the road, then I will.

If you have not already purchased the scope why not look at something else that has more MOA built in as well as a more useful reticle?
Resale on the Trijicon scopes not as good as some brands.

We can help you with a plus 30MOA conventional rail as we manufacture rails specifically for this rifle.
 
Would this scope work for ranges below 1000m? I don't have space to shoot even near that yet, so kind of looking to play at the 500m range for now and maybe move up later.
 
MOA?? 1990 called, it wants it's scope back.

Whichever scope you end up buying go Mrad, multiples of 10 is way easier to work with.
