Why would we necessarily all be shooting each other? couldn't we maintain some form of civility in the community if there was a bad happening? wouldn't individuals continue to support the community (in whatever form that is) in a similar capacity that we already do but in perhaps a less sophisticated fashion until the infrastructure of our current civilization is restored?
In societies without advanced technology they exist in a relatively peaceful and orderly fashion just the same.
The knowledge and skills that we possess now will still exist. some people can fix cars and machines some can grow vegetables some will be able to do medical stuff just the same as now.
So maybe in such an event we should take a deep breath and sort out immediate and long term problems collectively before putting on the web gear and storming out the front door.
Also i wonder if the #### hit the fan it probably wouldn't happen in 3 seconds where you'd have to run out the door with your AR in your underwear
There'd be a slow decay of the situation in which time i'd be getting the #### away from any kind of armed conflict and or where it may occur. Don't expect the water in your tap to be clean and the lights to turn on when #### goes awry.
I can kill deer and drink from a creek but i really can't defend myself against a trained/organized/supplied military force
I'm not hippie (although i sound like one here) but i don't think the veryfirst concern (although it's a real and valid discussion)is what calibre weapon do i need when SHTF.
For discussion sake what do y'all think would constitute SHTF scenario. What could happen realistically? and what is the best preparatory and post fan striking actions would be most appropriate for you and yours?
