Which of these rifles would you take hunting?

So i got a bit carried away selling and trading firearms, and i ended up trading off my hunting rifle thinking i would just buy a new one later. I won't be able to buy the dedicated hunting rifle i want until mid 2017 probably. So for this year I'm trying to figure out what rifle i have, that i should focus on using for this year. Im going to be going for wt and a mule deer. Spot and stalk type hunting, probably 100 yards max, probably closer to 60 if i can get that close.

These are the rifles i have to choose from:

Norinco m305
Mosin M44
winchester 73 in 357 mag
12 gauge pump

i don't really want to sell any of those, but i might if all of them are terrible choices lol.

I am going to be honest with you...... All of those are terrible choices IMOP......

That being said, as a guy that has hunted shotgun only zones, you would be good to go with the right shotgun setup at your prescribed distances....... What make and model is your 12 gauge?...... "Building a shotgun" that will do an inch and a half at 100 is very easy...... And cheap to boot......

i was planning on taking them to the range next week to see which one i shoot the best. the norinco seems front heavy to me but thats ok. The m44 seems a pretty handy size but i doubt its accurate. the 73 shoots like a laser beam but its a bit under power, probably only good to 75 yards for deer

i know non of them are a t3 or whatever lol. just made some impulse deals with hollow justifications, but i still want to hunt this year.

its just an old winchester 120 3"

Ya, well we all do that...... Lol....... I am very well equipped now but can't honestly say I made all the right moves previously...... Lol....

Unfortunately, you can't get an iron sighted barrel for your shotgun, which was going to be my suggestion...... But here is an idea.... Why not head over to Tradex site and pick up an m98 in 6.5 x 55 for under $300....... Has nice iron sights and you will get your money back out of it all day every day whn you sell it down the road......

For your expectations (100 yards or less) they would all work, but i would lean towards the m305 or m44. See which one you shoot better, either are likely capable of reasonable accuracy at 100 yards or less.

Both are heavy though. Not ideal but if you can suck it up, then whatever.

Edit - i am assuming neither are scoped? Might want to explore your options for scoping one or the other...

I change my opinion to agree with this. Especially more so if you reload. Tons of bullet options in this calibre and you can go light or heavy with bullets.

You can get an iron sighted barrel for your shotgun. I have one ....

But Ibwould take the winchestwr.

I recently did a huge sell off of my rifles...... Then a huge buy of what I wanted......

What I will say, is that I lost money on nothing.......

A husky in 6.5 will hold its value all day every day........ And as much as I am not into euro cals, I think it's a great buy....

My guns do better than my investments.......... I am not looking to be a gun hoarder, but man, it's tempting.......

I rode a 14 km round trip on my bicycle with my m305 to plink the other day, sure it's heavy but I'm not a tit either like some sound like. Wouldn't think twice about taking it hunting, hell 20 year kids hauled these through the jungle getting shot at. Sure non are ideal but if you get over the fact they're not a sleek 7# scope vanilla hunting rig. Who need ideal, all have lots of character and are adequate. It's funny all the complaints over a few pounds or a few inches, a man gets the job done with what he has. Imagine posing the same question to 90% of our great grandparents! Their heads would spin, all would work just fine for a dang dear under 100 yards. If you take the 73 your better armed than anyone in the old west was, they did just fine.

Take the 73 load edged with 125 grain hollow point Sierra bullets at max with Win 296 will shoot pretty flat to 200 yard and will
take any White tail or Miley!

M305 hands down IF IT SHOOTS at least 6 inch group and you can make it hit a 12 inch plate
A 308 with a good hunting bullet will kill anything if you hit the boiler room
Just pick your shot and take a broadside shot behind front leg mid body a little lower if you can count on where it hits

Hey James1873 , if you're ever Grande Prairie area/way I'll lend you a savage in 30-06 with a bushnell 3x9x40 on it for your deer hunt. PM me if you want for details.
