Which of your Milsurps can you shoot the best with?

K31, because on any one of the many I have, I have three choices of how to aim it without any permanent changes to the rifle.

1) Original square/U-notch iron sights.
2) Scoped. A must for refining loads and tuning the rifle.
3) Target diopter sights. To challenge the shooter.

Well, I must say that the best groups I get are from my newly acquired M96 Swedish Mauser. For best quick shots it's my 54 refurb SKS and well also my Chinese SKS but it has tech sights so I won't count it as full on milsurp.

My girlfriend is a mean shot with my 1938 izzy 91/30.
I love watching her shoot it, standing up, with bayonet on.

Best shooting overall, that would have to be my m96 swede.

Cheers

K31 hands-down - it's scary to think how good it would be with sights like a Garand. Second place for me is a P14.

I can consistently group better with my K31, however I like the sights better on my M1 and No.4

As mentioned above if they K31 came standard with M1 style sights it would be my favourite milsurp of all time.

My Norwegian k98 is also quite accurate and pleasure to shoot. 30-06 is a great cartridge. My 1917 and 1903 are all very good shooters.

I also love my Arisaka 38 and it's a definate tack driver. Other high honors go to my Ross 1910 and a 1915 SMLE that Flying Pig restored. Those that crap on .303 don't know what they are yapping about - it can be very accurate.

My L1A1. Get the gas adjustment just right and it feels so natural for me to shoot all day. Best accuracy though goes to the NM SA Garand.

Damn you!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I serviced thousands of those. Fired countless cases of ammo out of them. And I can't have one. Damn you!!!!!!

Yeah, the same Government that had the things built and then paid US to protect THEM has decided that, even if we own one, we can't be trusted to shoot it.

CLOWNS!

And then they wonder why we have nothing good to say about them..... ANY of them.

My Swede M96 long gun. Extremely accurate and consistant to shoot out to 200 yards as that is all I have done so far. I also agree that my K31 is a blast to shoot and accurate also, dam they made a fine gun ! My Garand is right on the money also !

As of right now, given that I am just starting to mass reload after developing a decent cast bullet recipe, my M91/30 PU sniper and my newly acquired M91 Finnish rifle, both from a bench rest (17Gr 2400, Lyman 314299 @ .313"). The Finn is interesting - very heavy trigger, but it breaks clean with no creep and no uptake. My Russian M44 will shoot very well within a narrow sweet spot. The longer rifles tolerate a somewhat broader range of charge weights.

I got out with a Swiss K11 for the first time and was very disappointed in it. None of my test loads shot worth a damn, and nearly all produced what I would call significant blow back - safety glasses and face caught gas and powder residue in abundance. This one is going to be fussy, I can tell. I'll see if I can pick up a small quantity of GP11 to try in it to get a baseline.

My M305 is hot and cold right now. I can shoot a great group followed by a pattern. Then I'll shoot a pattern followed by a great group. I suppose I'll have to invest in a chronograph some day...

My K31, which should surprise no one. More accurate than I am by far, and I haven't even bothered handloading with it. I doubt I could come up with a load that could rival GP11 anyway.

Second would be my beater Chinese SKS, which was my first centerfire rifle. The wood is dinged to heck, the bluing is starting to wear away, and it's had some rust issues on the outer-bottom of the magazine because I was a bozo and forgot to oil it after a humid, long day at the range where it contacted my sweaty hands and the dirt for an afternoon. Doesn't shoot any worse than the day I first got it brand new in the cosmoline, and the rifling is still perfect with that nice mirror finish from the chrome lining. They may be heavy for what they are and not exactly the most ergonomic things on earth, but when used within the paramiters of what it was designed for, you really can't beat an SKS.
