I've used the SKS rifles quite a bit; I bought 5 of them from Lever when they were $70. One I tortured tested wiht a crate (1500 rounds) of ammo, during which I didn't clean or maintain the rifle.
It still went bang every time.
In fact, for the most part, with a little bit of maintenence, SKS rifles are pretty reliable, and The thousands of Canadians who use them, seem to agree.
Now, the 710, who knows? I've seen at least 2 that malfunctioned right out of the box! And there hae been plenty of othe rreports about htese guns malfunctioning.
Failure to cahmber facotry ammo, bolt seizing p wiht facotry ammo, bolt handles falling off, bolts comeing right out when they aren't supposed to...
The SKS is moslty known as a reliable carbine with good enough accuracy to kill a deer at 150 yards, like many iron sighted carbines.
The 710 is mostly known as an accurate rifle that you have no idea if it is going ot go bnag, or you will be able to eject your case and load another shell, or if th ebolt handle will fall off..
I guess reliabilty is more important to some than others.
