I might be having a brain fart, and it might have been on another forum...but it was a video post of a fella with an AR shooting at 50m and he said he had swapped out a Vortex for a Burris 3X.

Not trying to start a fight or be a dink - but if it was one of you fellas here, why did you do that? I just bought a Vortex 3X prism scope for my AR stubbie...and I would hate like hell to find out I bought a POS...

I went the opposite way - I looked at the Burris and went with the Vortex based on the reticles. Yannow...this is a sore spot with me. I would LOVE a simple cross hair reticle but all the scope manufacturers are going to reticles that belong in a submarine periscope. I'm not sinking destroyers, I am shooting at paper!!!

Oh well, maybe it will be a good cop-out for when I miss!:)

Your two cents on Vortex is sincerely appreciated.

I'm with you. That and the 2-10,0000x variable that is always set on 4x. Why?

I am in the position of wanting to purchase a quality simple optic and would like to hear the opinions.

I have a spitfire 3x, before buying I had also considered the Burris AR-332. I got the impression that they are really similar in function and capability, the only reason I went with the spitfire was the removable riser that let me drop the sight closer to the rail.

Bushnell TRS-25... small, durable, inexpensive, and only 3 moa sized dot :)

love mine, and gonna buy another for the shotty

Actually I am mad now. I never even heard of that one...how do you like it...?

I love it! A simple adjustable red/green dot with an underslung laser. My AR is set up for CQB so this sight is a no brainer for it. The mount is solid, recoil is not a problem, and it keeps a zero all day. I was actually really surprised at the small size of my 50 yard group with this sight. The laser is bright, adjustable, and stays where you put it (plus the badassery factor is off the chart....).
