.338 seems to be one of the choices of the Canadian Armed Forces Sniper Team. I have a friend in the DG business, and he just sent them some of these.
Two weeks ago I'd have said less is more.
But that depends on the terrain your hunting I guess.
I just had the extreme pleasure of hunting in a new area in a new way, came across some Grizzly tracks the size of my head. No truck to hide in or wide open spaces, just me, the tracks and nature (bush) this time out.
For me, now, more gun is the way to go, YMMV.

Is Corlanes / Rocky Mountain Rifles building your 338-06AI ? They did great job on mine. Rod at Corlanes (had a few himself over the years-loved it) and another guy I know convinced me to go with the Ackley Version.
