Hi, I am considering of buying my first centerfire rifle.

Which one should I choose from the 10FP 24" ($640) or 10FP LE2 26" ($685) in term of accuracy?

Thanks a lot.

Get the F/TR rifle from Savage instead. - dan

???? F/TR ????? hum? I didn't see anything about what this is on their web site, please explain, if you can, thanks.

Myself I have been leaning towards the 10FP 24" HS Precision, mainly because of the stock, but I am still watching what is mentioned here about all of these Savages & 700's, however for the most part sounds like Savage has the better options and less work needed out of the box. ie; bedding, trigger adjustments, etc..

Now if this is going to be your first center fire, what are you intending to use it for primarily? if it's just simply hunting/carrying I would think that the weight of either of these rifles will be a bit more than desirable, however if it's just bench shooting your doing or sit and wait rest hunting then that'll be fine to.

Well let's see what others have to say, shall we.

Given your user name, I would think you'd be looking for a Remington??? Check out the new Remington 700 SPS Varmint or Tactical!

Thank you all for the inputs.
Note: The user name was chosen when I had a Remington 870 express. The price for Remington is a bit too high for me. The whole SPS series is not my cup of tea. Too "special". Marlin lever action would be next choice.

Whadya think of the 20" 10FE in .308? Would a 20" barrel seriously hinder velocity, power, accuracy compared to the 24/26"?

I have the 20" 10FP and it is very good out to 500M possibly 800. Crudely you lose 25fps for every inch of barrel length. Since most people don't shoot past 300M I would think you are safe with the 20". There are precious few places to shoot long range.

My $0.02

I have the 26inchs in Mcmillan, the dame thing shoot like a wetdream, even more accurate than the rem700PSS with out trigger jobs or any modification, just out of the box...

I had the first 10FPLE2B in Canada a couple of years ago and went through the debate over which one as I wasn't able to handle either. I'm glad I went with that one over the Choate stock.

If you get the chance to handle both, do it.

What Farmboy is trying to say......get a remington LTR, or any good remington long gun! Just read the "LTR" post. Sorry D, just had to ad this.

Why have a Remington when you can get a Savage

Either will be super accurate and the bullet velocities will be very close, too close to really make a difference anyways. I say pick the one which fits you best or the one you think is prettier!
