I'm leaning really heavy on picking up an ATRS billet lower receiver and the billet upper when it becomes available.

Depends on work though.

You can't really call it a Canadian AR it is more like a North American made AR, since lot of the parts are still coming from the US. a $1000 AR has always been possible, you just have to shop around a bit.

The lower, upper, barrel, gas block, gas tube, charging handle, charging latch, brake are all made in Canada.

Well, sure, but what about the grease you pack it in? That's probably chinese. So it's basically a norinco, right?

Seriously though...when will we hear more details, and how much detail will we hear? I am trying to figure out what ARs these will compete with in terms of, well, everything except price, since they will obviously beat the pants off every 1st-world AR in that regard.

That's great start :) I should think furniture is also possible if you can get Colt Canada to supply handguards.

I'd also love to see Canadian-made complete bolt carrier groups, but I understand that isn't ready yet - they require careful manufacture and heat treating and it would be expensive to get started before volume brought the price down.
