I looked at a Browning stalker, Weatherby Vanguard and Ruger M77 all in stainless synthetic and .338 win mag. They were all priced with in a $100 of each other.

Which one should a guy go with. Accuracy and reliablilty being the most important factors for me.

I loved my 338 Stainless Ruger......I don't like Brownings and I have no experience with The Vanguards.....?
Out of your Choices I'd Go with the Ruger 77 hands down:)

Let's see:
Vanguard not available in a left hand version
Ruger does'nt make a left hand bolt in 338
And although Browning makes a left hand 338, I hate their trigger configuration.
My suggestion would be a Tikka T3

How about a Savage Weather Warrior model 116FCSS with accu Trigger. :D :dancingbanana: Price $559 with all the money saved you can buy a killer scope.

M77 Mii

.338 should be CRF, IMO. So of your choices, Ruger M77 MII. The Rugers are a solid, reliable hunting rifle. Don't let anyone tell you the Rugers can't shoot......... they do.:)

The M70 CRF might be worth looking for also. That one might take a little luck finding.

Go with the Browning. My turn to be the Devil's Advocate!
I hunt with an A-Bolt (albeit an early version) and have not had any surprises with it. It's light and accurate, which are 2 very important things. I have several Rugers and have found them to be accurate and dependable. I can't say anything good or bad about the Weatherby, as I have no experience with the Vanguard series.

Rugers are nice, but you'll need a new trigger or a thorough trigger job

Go with the M70 Classic--it and the .338WM go together like peanuts and beer
