Hey guys I am new to the sport and just starting out, I would like to stay in production and not get too crazy into spending a whole whack of money and came up with 2 types of guns just wanted to get a different opinion

1.) Smith & Wesson M&P .40

2.) Beretta PX4 Storm .40

Price range is good for me just for the gun I know everything else will be more

M&P, wider selection of holsters and parts on the market. There is a new M&P that comes from the factory without the mag safety.
The M&P is used in production division far more then the Storm

The M&P is a good starter gun. Very easy to operate.

The mag safety is very easy to remove. Instructions are readily available online.

You may want to reconsider the .40 though. No advantage in PD as everyone is scored minor anyhow. The vast majority of PD shooters use 9mm as it is cheaper to shoot and brass is everwhere when you want to reload for it.

You can shoot any division with any gun. Except revoler division. You will be scored as minor though. For major you will need to shoot .40, 38Super, or even 9mm major.
