Arright, I've decided my next purchase is going to be a shotgun. then a centerfire rifle, then more handguns.

So here's what I'm trying to figure out: a Nork YL12-1J4 or a Mossberg Maverick 88?

I'm looking at something new, and in the $200 range. I want it to work, and I want it to be easily modified (IE: pistol grip fixed stock, because I like the way a pistol grip feels but don't like folders, and of course multiple barrels) I'd consider a remington, or a Norinco clone, but they're a little out of my budget.

I'd say the HP-9 14" as it is compatable with all 870 parts. Lots of add-ons and parts for the 870, lots of used stuff as well. Had some minor feeding problems with mine but I put a Wilson 1 round extension with spring and follower and works flawlessly now. At least thats my opinion.

Like I said... the Nork clone is a touch out of my range.... Kind of dumb thought here.... I noticed that the shorter the barrel on the Norks, the pricer they got......

My advice is handle both and see which one fits you better.
I personaly chose the Maverick, and am very happy with it.

All depends on what you really want to do with them/pimp them out or not.
Both types seem to have allot of aftermarket goodies for them.

Both seem to come pretty good as is.

Plans for either would be a fixed "tactical" pistol grip stock, to make my life a little easier.... I've got some pretty nasty nerve damage from old sports injuries that i never let fully heal, and if i keep my wrist at a certain angle for a while, my arm and hand go numb (yeah quit thinking those sick thoughts. you all do it too:p) and I've found pistol grip stocks (like the ones found on ARs) the most comfortable, and of course an extra barrel or two. It'd be wearing the short barrle most of the time, but a 26" bbl w/ screw in chokes would be in the cards for busting clay, and if i ever decide to get into playing Flak against ducks, or a slug barrel and maybe a few "pimp" add ons, like a tactical light, reticle sight, and some other black goodies to annoy the old double gunners at the local skeet & trap range :p

First and foremost is solid function and reliability at LOW price. I'm not quite poor, but I'm definately budget minded.
