Which Para to shoot in IPSC?

Para's

Please keep in mind!!! The person who finishes first in 99% of all matches recieves the same as the person who finishes last $0.00 . So that being said if you have fun and your firearm and ammo work as they should you enjoy the day consider it a good day. Good guns malfunction as do poor guns!!

I have 3 Para's

p14-45 stock about 5ooo rounds through it broke barrell link nothing else
p14-45 stock spent $500 runs good very dependable maybe 20,000 rds through it broke ejector thats it , still enjoy shooting this one more than any gun execpt for my 445 supermag
P-16-40 L runs well still getting used to it 4th owner Know all previous owners well, only reason I traded for it was getting tired of Brass Sluts stealing by empties, and am thinking of making a 357 sig open gun.

That being said my para's all work better at ipsc than me

After match Fee's, Traveling, Ammo for practice and matches NO-ONE in Canada makes MONEY, from Shooting IPSC In Canada. So if you don't do it for the fun and enjoymment you'd better move to the States and Turn Pro

Supermag

My History with IPSC Pistols

This was the first one I bought buts its para .45. No good if your are shooting in the states. Its all about how many you can stuff into that mag :(
This pistol is very accurate, custom built.

So then i bought this one factory para .40. its alright but after shooting the first one and deciding how much to upgrade I bought the next one.

So then i bought this one. which i am totally satisfied. I just wish i skipped the first 2 steps :)

So I finally decided on a Para...

I thought I would update this post with some pics of my new Para. I decided on the Para SX1640J and received it on Friday. Heres a few pics of the gun:

I put 150 rounds of reloads through it at the range today and found it to be very accurate. No problems with function at all, the trigger was crisp and the Novak sights were easily adjusted. I'm a newish handgun shooter so a range report for accuracy would'nt mean much when its me behind the trigger:D , but I think this gun is going to work out great for me for in Standard Division. I will update the post when I've put a few thousand more rounds through it and let you know how it performed.

Cheers

Matt

Nice pistol indeed, but by the look of that magwell I doubt that it will fit "in-the-box" for Standard Division.

The magwell is 45mm wide so it should be a snug fit with +1mm allowance. It is designed to qualify for IPSC Standard.

I'd still check it in a box. The only magwells I've seen on Paras that big that fit in the box required frame mods. It looks more like it was designed to qualify for USPSA Limited; which has no box...and is a bigger market. It would really suck to get booted to open at your first big match...

Keep in mind that the + 1 mm is a tolerence on the box...not an allowance. If the box happens to be exactly 45mm...and your gun is 45.5 mm...you're in Open.

The tolerence just accounts for variations in the constrcution process so that boxes that are a max of 1 mm over dimension are still allowed.

Thanks I did'nt know that.

You are right...it was designed for USPSA as shown by the emblem on the side. But I have been told that it was also designed to fit IPSC Standard as well. I'll see if I can get access to a box next weekend and let you know how it goes.

I think you could be right Kelly, I just measured it with my calipers and I was 0.43mm over. I'll see if I can drop by tomorrow afternoon.

Nah - no belt stander required - just pick up one of these Rescomp Para wells from Kelly (IPSC legal) and use the nice Dawson one if you head south...

Holy crap it fit and i took photos to prove it. First point and god i hate myself for doing this but here is my review. Its a dam nice gun(crap that hurt). Truthfully its a Dawson Precision pistol as the fit and finish really nice. Wilson barrel bushing, steel magcatch and it looks like chip mcCormick hammer and trigger set. Also like the neutered mag but i still dont like the safties(few that feels better) as i think they still should have put ed brown abi's to complete the gun. Also feels heavier than my STI. Still not a convert but this was the best para i have seen since the first p16/40 limited ever came out.

DANGER DANGER!!! I was nearly tossed into Open for having this magwell on my Para P16 at Nationals last year. The O-Ring is just over the box limit.

Solutions? Shoot without the O-Ring, get a smaller O-Ring or get the biggest CRO you can find to 'press fit' it into the box. (Thanks btw!!)
