I have a choice of 3, I already own a M&P in 40SW not that it affects my decision on these 3.

1)Norinco NP22 9mm (Sig P226 clone)
2)Norinco 1911 Commander 45ACP
3)Sig Mosquito 22LR

I'm feeling the pinch from ammo prices and have been leaning towards the Sig Mosquito, but I would love to own a pistol in 45acp, I also like the NP22 due to looks but also the price of 9mm ammo isn't too bad. I'm just indecisive right now.

If money is the issue it's a no brainer: Mosquito.

I love my Norc 1911 in 45, but it's expensive stuff. I reload for it and that makes it manageable, but if you don't--- you're not going to shoot it very often.

Nothing wrong with the NP22 either, but don't kid yourself about 9mm being really affordable. It's better than 45 for sure, but nowhere near .22 LR.

Unless something has changed the Mosquito is a jamomatic so I would stay away. I would go for the NP22. I am hooked on 9mm. I still have a spot in my heart for the old .45 though! LOL

I have heard -- and this is strictly hearsay, not worth a politician's promise -- that the Chinese make inferior aluminum (as opposed to their steel, which is first rate). If that is true, stay away from the NP22.

I would go for the 1911. Nothing but good reports about them.

x2! In northern NB I pay 38$ +tax for a box of .45's :( I don't get to take it out too often. I say go with the sig and shoot away :D

i'd like to chime in with a suggestion if i might. i own a norinco np29 with no alterations of any kind and after several thousand rounds through it, its still a joy and as accurate as i'll ever be. its a 1911 in 9mm so technically, it would suit both your needs as it is a 1911 (.45 look, feel) but in a 9mm (half price of 45). just my 2c.

Captain Paul

Try Marstar for ammo, got a shipping quote for 500rds 45 ACP Win at about $45 shipping to NB. About $280 for 500 rds tax in ,it would be cheaper to pay the shipping than buy by the box at $38 a piece.

Better off spending a couple of hundred on a Lee Turret press, dies, scale, primers, powder and bullets. Then just make them as you need them.

Ive had a lot of fun with my mosquito and ive never had any problems with jamming when i use good quality ammo aka cci minimag
